Resveratrol is a chemical compound. Polygonyum cuspidatum (i.e. Japanese knotweed) root is the plant source which was used to derive the compound. This is not a scam. Almost all resveratrol sold uses Japanese knotweed as their source now.

Knotweed root is generally 50% trans. So figure half of what they say. To get the recommended 1000 mg of actual trans resveratrol, you will want to take 4. This is about the cheapest I am seeing at .44 per gram of actual trans R by taking 2000 mg of Knotweed. By the way, the people who think that Polygonium Cuspidium (Japanese Knotweed) is not the most concentrated source are uninformed. They are probably taking red wine extract and getting like 5 mg.

Q: Can the seller clarify the statement the product has zero starch but lists it contains rice powder (rice powder is a starch)? I need zero starch.

Rice flour (also rice powder) is a form of flour made from finely milled rice. It is distinct from rice starch, which is usually produced by steeping rice in lye. Rice flour is a particularly good substitute for wheat flour, which causes irritation in the digestive systems of those who are gluten-intolerant.

Q: what is the color of the resveratrol powder?

If it's knotweed root, which is 50% Resveratrol, then it shojuld be brown. If it's the refined stuff that is 100% Res then it should be white and cost a lot more than this. You decide if you want to pay more for refined or take the complete plant for 50%. I take the root powder. It's more stable.
