A game which promotes an educational stance
I would say this game is very well designed, because I found it has a good level of challenge , really encourages children to do the sums in their heads, certainly makes the brain work! My daughter likes it very much.It is educational and a fun way of learning codes and logic and creativity. This game provides good amusement and fun, it’s also a Great way to spend time together with family in these strange days, will keep you entertained for hours. What I like about this game is that it helps developing the understanding in telling the time but in a fun and playful way. It also teaches teamwork, helps little kids with maths (adding and taking away) and logical thinking.

Very brief game, not especially educational, but quite fun
I’m reviewing the “Coded Castle” game here, although there are eight different games under this product heading and at time of writing, strangely, “Coded Castle” isn’t one of them. The format and style looks extremely similar though so perhaps it’s an extension to the existing range. This is a nice open game and the gameplay is remarkably short. The box says “10 - 20 minutes” for each game, and once you get used to the rules, we’ve found that some games can be even shorter. Regardless of the number of players, you work as a team, taking it in turns to deal yourself some cards, decide what to do with them, and act upon them. The aim is to collect four treasure pieces before the ghost piece reaches the top. The treasure distribution is random and if it falls in your favour, the game can be over really quite quickly.I would have to say that the “coding” part of this game is rather over-stated though. For any young kid who’s played a browser game (CBeebies etc.) with the up down left and right keys, or if they can find their way around basic navigation in Minecraft, then there is nothing extra to be learned here. The possible exception is the ‘loop’ card but that’s hardly a great leap upwards in learning. This isn’t so much coding, as learning basic directions!Compared to the convoluted rules and exceptions found in other board games we’ve tried recently though, this one is nicely quick and intuitive. It’s also refreshing that it will work exactly the same way when playing it as a one-player game, a combination of a little bit of decision-making and a lot of chance, that you will either win or lose within a few minutes. It’s an easy game to dip into for a brief session, including how easily the cards pack away when done. It’s nicely presented. The cards pop out readily from the board, the playing board is nice and firm with a classic board game feel to it, and the colour and illustrations are nice and vibrant if a little generic. My kids have decided that this game should be called “Ghostbusters” instead of “Coded Castle”, despite my boring explanations about copyright…So it’s not very educational, but the manufacturing quality is good and for a game you can quickly dip into when you’ve got ten minutes to fill, this is quite a nice choice.

Good idea, terrible implementation
I like the simple idea of introducing coding to children. But this game is not well designed. The single play does not really allow to introduce concepts of loops and executing commends simply by the ratio of particular moving cards to cards with wizards or ghosts. The whole gameplay comes down to executing the simplest single steps and be lucky. There was potential in the idea for the game, but it was not used successfully imo. My son enjoyed this game, as he enjoys all board games, but when I ask him what game to play tonight, he never chooses this one. It's a last resort choice, when I encourage him. Finally, the products quality is not the best. It's not games elements that are the most important in board games, but especially for kids they can be this extra fun element, when they are wooden or plastic figures etc. Here we only get poor quality paper cards

Different. Fun.
Perfect for my son, this game is helping him to develop his concentration and thinking. The game involves thinking about strategies to win so really catches his attention. a different game from normal board games.

No idea how to play it
The instructions for play are so complicated that we were actually not able to play it. No idea what do they mean, it's super confusing. We tried to find a YouTube tutorial in desperation to see if maybe others have cracked it, but there is nothing out there.Unfortunately we watered our money on this and the kids were very frustrated.

Niedliches Spiel
