Hirt's Night Blooming Jasmine Plant - Cestrum nocturnum - 6" Pot

So far this the rating I can give,though I’m very much satisfied on how they took time to wrapped the plant very carefully so far I can’t comment on the scent coz there’ no flowers yet.

I've had this plant/shrub for quite a while now and had very high hopes for it. It wasn't cheap but I couldn't find any night blooming jasmine locally so I tried it. It grew very well but had no blooms for months. I watched with anticipation when I saw blooms like the ones in the photo appear. The next day they just disappeared! What I found out was a moth/caterpillar was eating the flowers and decimating the leaves. I called the company and the local extension service and was advised to spray it with a chemical, which I did weekly. Just when blooms would look like they might be appearing the process began again. I have cut it back then sprayed it...no improvement. So although in general night blooming jasmine is known to be very hardy, this one is not. I have since found these locally and bought two which are thriving and have not had the same problem. So I don't know if this is a bad plant or what.Update: I have had this plant now for two years and it is, for the most part, better. It still has some kind of bug but I have sprayed it regularly. It has grown and has bloomed several times...and it is on those nights that I remember what made me want this plant in the first place...the heavenly fragrance!

I have several plants already and there is no better aroma in the world on a warm summer night. We built a garage and had to move a couple of the plants. They didn't make it. I ordered three from Amazon and they arrived very quickly. two of them were very healthy and after planting are growing vigorously and I expect them to be OK. A third plant looked a little 'sick' for lack of a better word. Some leaves missing and just generally off color. Looks like maybe a parasite of some sort although I didn't find any. Continues to live, though its still kind on anemic and I'm not sure its going to make it. Overall I guess I'm pleased. Actually quite surprised they could ship a live plant as quickly as they did and get it here in good condition. I live in coastal North Carolina.

Like many plants I've ordered from Hirt's, it died within the first week.

WHAT WE GOT IS PLANT FULL OF DORMENT BUGS THEY PROSED TO WAKE UP AND DESTRYED THE PLANT.IS THIS NORMAL?AND WHAT CAN BE DONE IN THE FUTURE ?UP TO THAT POINT WE LIKE THE PURCHASE.SORRY IT DID NON LASTED. RICHARD AND RAQUEL

Plant arrived VERY WELL PACKAGED and quickly! What I received is a very healthy (almost) 1 gallon specimen that was only a little upset from the process of shipping but the peanuts helped to protect it. I gave it some water and a quiet spot on my shady porch to recover and it is doing nicely. I sent three others out as gifts just last week. If I'm willing to give these to friends and family that should tell you something. With the way it is growing I expect to have flowers by mid-summer. I will update after the blooms arrive.

My plant just arrived. After some waffling I ordered the larger pot. It must be 20 inches tall with full leaves that are in excellent shape. The packing was superb and I was able to remove it and almost all of the soil was still around the plant. there was no indication that it had suffered from the trip. The tracking information could have been better but I am very happy with the actual product and the shape it was in when it arrived. I would definately do Hirt via Amazon again. BTW the only connection I have with Amazon or Hirt's is as a customer.PS written on July 5, 2013. The plant now exceeds 24 inches in height and it is blooming. I am not an experienced gardner and it has tolerated my staccato watering habits fairly well. I am very pleased with this purchase. For me I am glad I got the larger size because in a little over a month I have blossoms, which was my goal.
