When Marjorie Griffiths learns that her husband has had a clandestine meeting with a young woman in a local mote, she hires private inquiry agent, Dick Hampton, to keep him under surveillance. The next day, Hampton informs her that her husband is in a room at the motel with the woman again, so Marjorie hurries over there and, when she sees her husband leave and drive away, she decides to confront the woman. And then she vanishes, without a trace. When Marjorieโs husband, Chuck, reports her missing, he becomes an immediate suspect in her disappearance. He hires attorney Oliver Davies to advise him, and Davies recommends Kane & Lucy to investigate Marjorieโs mysterious disappearance. But when traces of Marjorieโs blood are found in their home and in her abandoned car, Chuck is arrested; and this is only the beginning of his nightmare, as demons from his past return to threaten and even destroy him. Review: What a superb writer of thrillers I have ever read. - I have read several of the Mark Kane books and every single one of them is hard to put down until you have finished it. So if you are looking for an author who can keep your interest from page 1 to the end this is for you. Buy it try it but just get it you will not be disappointed. Review: Another Good One Flowing From Start To Finish With More Character Development From The Leading Players - Pleased to report, that similar to their last adventure called I Spy. This books flows from page one to its conclusion. There, is also different characteristics, coming through from the two leading players. This is helping this series grow effectively. So what is this about? Boston based private investigator Mark Kane and his assistant Lucy are hired to help a man whose wife has disappeared. At the same time, the client is under suspicion of being involved as to why this lady has vanished? This is the seventh novel to feature Kane and Lucy. What awaits them?

Untangling the web
Enjoyed the 7th book in the series. I do appreciate the lack of swearing and graphic scenes as it does not detract from the plot. Enough material now for a mini tv series?

Pot Boiler
This is possibly the worst book I have read in the Kane series. It was simplistic, in plot, to say the least. John Hemmings is much better than this. The best book he wrote, in my opinion was his first in this series. The rest have been less interesting - the last, as I say, the worst.

Another Kane and Lucy mystery
I enjoyed this story. If you like a good yarn with no unnecessary gore or bad language then you'd probably enjoy this series. Kane is a PI and Lucy his intuitive assistant. They have an interesting relationship which helps and hinders at times. The story is believable and characters generally well developed ( I'm not sure about Marjorie) ...I felt I needed to know more about her as she was integral to the plot. It did not damage my enjoyment of the story though but is why I only gave four stars not five.

Tangled Web, Lucy & Kane at their finest again!
A great read, Lucy & Kane working together through the twists and turns as this story unfolds. Nothing is clear until the end of the book.

As always a great read
I always know when I sit down to a Mark Kane mystery I'm going to get lost in the story I may have liked this book best but can't say for sure because I enjoyed them all. I hope John Hemmings will continue this series for a long while It could definitely be a tv series? Just putting it out there!

An Exciting Book!
This was an easy to read book with lots of excitement. I loved the plot which had many twists and turns. I loved the main characters too. I want to read more of this series from this author. I will be following him from now on. I bet the rest of the series is wonderful too.

Amusing , intelligent teamwork wins the day
Kane and Lucy serendipitously work out a kidnapping crisis which might have ended differently if Lucy hadn't forced her usefulness as a team player. ๐ a tame read with a hook until the end .

I enjoyed reading your books but sometimes your expectations are a little long winded. I look forward to the next book.
