Good story 🔥🔥🔥
I'm at 41% of the book and I decided I'm not gonna finish it. Not because it isn't good because that would be a lie, but as someone who grew up without their mother around or around like she should have been this story is hard for me to get through. I love that someone exposed the ain't sh@t mothers out here in the world, and highlighted the wonderful fathers that stepped up. Reading this had me so angry and it was hard to come down, I kept having to stop reading and come back. I don't like the hiding of kids and this seems to be a trend going on with urban fiction lately. It's truly unforgivable to me, and it's always trying to be cleaned up because the mother told the kid about their father, so when they meet it's like they always knew one another. Black men has a reputation for being deadbeats when it comes to the children they make, so it burns me up when a father wants to be in their child/children's lives and has it snatched away. This man missed 4 years of his daughter's life, that's first words, first steps, potty training, 1st bday, etc. I couldn't for the life of me understand why everyone wanted him to listen to what she had to say and possibly work on their marriage. It bothered me so much, maybe listen to her to have a cordial co-parenting relationship, but honestly NOTHING she said could have been enough for me to trust her ever again. Like stated in other reviews if she was the villain not a thing she said or the reasons she did it would have stopped them from d@mn near killing her. I was really hoping he found someone else and let her suffer without him. After all of this being said, this was a well written story and my first read by this author. Though I cannot finish it I will definitely read other stories by her. Sorry for my bias reaction and getting so personal on the subject. I guess thats what makes great authors when the emotions are real.

second time around
This book was not what I expected in the best possible way. I loved the journey and the growth with these. This was one of the best second chance romance I’ve read. Both characters were flawed but the love never wavered. Great read happy I finally gave it a chance it has been I my library for a while

Drama
WOW! That was A lot. I almost didn't make it through this one a few times because geez, these two just couldn't get it together or catch a break.Nasir 'Nas' Carter and Venus 'Nene' Day were like fire and water- a not so great mix, yet one needs the other at times. I wasn't feeling Nene in the previous book about her twin sister, Valentine 'Valley' Day, yet I was intrigued by what she had so throughly messed up, as she stated. An introvert whom had very low self esteem and didn't quite fit in with her family or siblings, whom all had differing personalities, despite being raised in the same home, with their super funny and crazy Granny; that woman is HILARIOUS 😂😂😂. Venus didn't know where she fit into her twin siblings, so she stayed to herself. Until she met, or was approached rather, by Nasir. He made her his Queen, Goddess above all else, and whole it may be endearing to some, it wrecked a young Venus, which essentially ruined their relationship and secret marriage. I'm glad she went through what she did so she could be better for her, her daughter, family, siblings, and eventually, her future husband.Nasir was a lot to take in. Such a broken man that loved hard and would fight harder for what he knew was his. A young Nas didn't understand the type of controlled behavior he set in his relationship with Nene and it took some counseling, self reflection and his family calling him in his bs for him to get it together get his heart back. I loved how he fell right into fatherhood. Very endearing. His mother was a piece of sh**. What woman dies what she did to her first born son🤦🏾♀️🤨. She needed to be destroyed and his father was going to see to it. I liked him😏.Nene "best-friend' got what she deserved. Valley gave her the business and then Nene finished it. I wasn't mad at all because she was crazy, manipulative and so disrespectful.I could go on and on, yet this was a good read. Can't wait to read more about the Kiss-Csrter crew.

A second chance
Venus and Nasir had a rocky road to HEA. When we are introduced to childhood lovers Venus & Nasir its on what should be the happiest day of theirs lives instead betrayal through secrets deads all that. Sometimes you have to end before you begin and that's exactly what we got in this story. Mrs. Kema literally breaks this couple down to build back stronger and wise. When Venus secret comes out boy did her family hold no punches. They made it clear that what she did was wrong and selfish but they also provided her with support that only loyal loving family members no how to do. Nasir family provided the same energy letting him know that once he calm down he needed to take responsibility for his part as well.Although this wasn't A easy couple to invest that's exactly what I did. Great read a I would definitely recommend to others.

Young love - you live and you learn
Amazing book! I enjoyed it from beginning to end!I’d been wondering about all the mentions of Nasir and Venus and their story. Wow was it a big one full of love made, received, withheld, lost, and scorned.Kema took us on a ride because drama was on point. Will he or won’t he, will she or won’t she, no he didn’t and no she didn’t, choke that heaux, two can play that game, and above all else take Granny’s advice!!!!!“With each new, beautiful shade of gray, more than yesterday and even more tomorrow than today, I love you. Thank you for loving me and showing me how to love you the right way. With all that I am and all that I’ll ever be, I’m yours and you’re mine.”
