Refuse to take statins but these red yeast rice substitutes seem to lower my LDLs, so what can I say. My doctor thinks I'm nuts, but she didn't believe it when I lost 35 lbs. on KETO! She weighed me! What can I say? If it works, it works.

Edit: I’m back to say that this did lowered my LDL. While on it I also cut way back on red meat and eliminated all obvious fatty foods (nothing fried, no processed meats including bacon) and prepackaged crap and snacks. I still have to work on lowering my triglycerides so on top now I’ve also eliminated all refined carbs. In case you’re wondering- that leaves me with chicken, vegetables, some fruits (all berries are good), some nuts (almonds, walnuts and pecans are ok) and water. It sucks but I’ve also lost 25 pounds so far, am no longer pre-diabetic and it’s eliminating inflammation. And I’m not on a statin! My cholesterol is up. It is in the rise despite changes in my diet. So I’m trying this before taking a script. I really don’t want to be on a statin. I haven’t used it long enough to see a difference but just wanted to say that I fully trust this brand. I’ve used quite a few Thorne supplements and they are very reputable for their quality ingredients. It’s worth it to pay for something you know is legit. So many other supplements are mostly garbage. I puchased this product in February after my doctor wanted to prescribe a cholesterol medication. It had a lot a mof good reviews and I already take several Thorne products. I did my labs two weeks ago and had my follow-up with my doctor last week. He said my bad cholesterol was down and my good cholesterol was up! I am continuing with this because I've had no side effects!

For years my cholesterol numbers were high but now I’m down from 225 to 189! I took the Red Rice Yeast faithfully for 4 months along with cutting back eating red meat and anything “white” ( rice, pasta, cheese etc.) Seeing my numbers improve motivated me to continue on the Thorne red rice yeast and change my way of eating. It’s a little pricey but I think it is worth it.

Great alternative to statins. I’ve been taking them 3 months now recommended by my doctor. I haven’t noticed any side effects which is a super plus for me. They are a little pricey but they are organic so to me it’s worth the money. I’m giving only 4 stars because of the size of these things. I wish they could be made smaller. I guess you could open them to take it which I’ve done the taste isn’t so great tho. Overall great alternative if you suffer from cholesterol issues.

This simply works! I had elevated cholesterol levels a few months ago. I started taking one of these pills per day. And by the time I had a follow-up visit, my levels were near-normal. I've always been a healthy eater, and thus hadn't frankly changed anything else in my diet. I will say that I at first tried taking 2/day, but started experiencing what felt like hot-flashes. So I went down to one within that first week (which was apparently still plenty for my system).

If you're looking to reduce your cholesterol this is a great product. Mine was reduced to nearly normal levels after taking for a month. Love this!

From my personal experience it really helped me to control my bad cholesterol and after checking it with my doctor I stopped taking cholesterol medication. It is a personal experience only so you should follow up with a doctor to make sure that it is working with your body .
