Great performance provided you have very short hair and trim to uniform length
This is a perfect haircutting solution provided that you have short hair (ideally less than 1/2 inch) and want to cut it to uniform length. If you have longer hair, or want varying lengths, there are better options. For me this is perfect. It replaces an old Remington that was shaped like a hairbrush. It was very simple to use (don't know why they no longer make it) and cut great. This Conair, while shaped differently, is almost as easy to use. Due to the size and shape it can be challenging to get behind my ears, but for everywhere else, it is excellent. It's easier to use than conventional clippers and provides a more even cut. The battery life is great, and I very much like that it can be used while charging. That ensures that the cutter will continue to be usable even when the battery fails to take a charge (inevitable). The build quality feels pretty solid, so I expect it will last for some time. A great trimmer - five stars.

Very good product, but a couple of improvements needed
After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit hesitant when ordering this. But I was pleasantly surprised, it does a very good job. My advice, take your time, be patient. So why not 5 stars? 1 -it comes with its own wall charger, in 2025 why not USB-C? 2 – The instructions recommended that you lubricate blades, but the bottle of oil is very tiny. A bigger bottle of oil would be appreciated. I have only had it for a few weeks, but I have already recommended it to a couple of friends.

Not enough hair to style, but don't want to shave scalp daily? Here's a solution
I am mostly bald. If I let my hair grow out it looks weird. I have been considering shaving my scalp, but I hate to shave and my face is more than enough. So up until now I have been getting my head cut short every 6 months and it looks ragged once it grows back. This arrived yesterday and I have used it only once, but this thing is easy to use. Every few weeks I can use it again and keep myself with what used to be called a "crew cut". I have very fine hair but it was still able to cut it well. Much easier to use than a standard trimmer if all you want is an even cut. My hands are fairly small and this is bigger than it looks, but no problem. If you have really small hands that might be an issue for you. Battery life is adequate, but you probably won't get more than 1 or 2 uses per charge. This being my first cut took longer than it will in the future, and I could just sense it was slowing a bit at the end of the cut. I generally lean towards corded appliances, but using this outdoors was a great way to avoid cleanup so cordless was useful. I am an engineer, so when they batteries fail I will replace them. FOLLOW UP I continue to really like this thing. Initially I couldn't get the hair near my ear adequately cut and would have to trim those spots, but with practice often I don't have to do that any more. It really is a game changer for anyone that just want a trim and be self sufficient. I just use it in the dry shower to catch the hair, then brush up the mess and then shower to get the hair off me. Recently I adjusted to use a slightly longer cut.

Wasted effort for Conair to market this useless piece of garbage
I have been cutting my own hair for over 20 years, with several different hair styles as the times have changed. For the past 5 months, I have kept my hair evenly short, using a traditional hair clipper with a No. 1 attachment. When I saw this "rotary" hair clipper, I thought I'd give it a try to see if it would save me any time, or deliver better results. Unfortunately, using the HC900 took more time and delivered disappointing results. 1. The design of the HC900 cuts/chops/clips your hair, but does not "eject" the hair, so it can build up in the cavity above the cutting blades. In turn the clippings continually get cut shorter and shorter, as it is recycled back into the cutting area. What happens is that a lot of the tiny clippings get embedded into your hair, or ejected all over the place. When using a traditional clipper, the first pass usually yields the longest clippings, and you can direct where those clippings are dropped. There is also minimal multi-chopped clippings that get stuck on the scalp. 2. This does not clip evenly. Even after 20 passes over the same area, I could hear the clippers cutting a little bit more hair. The result is that there are a lot of high spots and a lot of low spots. A friend and my wife, both commented on how "off" the haircut was. 3, You definitely need another set of traditional clippers to clean up the edges and also around the ears. Why bother with using more than one tool, when you can use just the traditional clippers. 4. Cleanup is a real chore. Not only do the clippings get all over the place, cleaning the HC900 is a royal pain. When traditional clippers, all it takes is about 6 passes with the cleaning brush, and it looks brand new. If you want to cut your own hair, or have a friend/family member do it for you, save yourself the aggravation of buying one of these, and stick to the traditional clippers.

Works good, but you will still need a trimmer
I have been cutting my own hair with regular hair clippers for over 20 years but the blades are becoming dull. Twice I have purchased replacement clippers that did not cut as well as the old clippers. This was my third attempt to find a replacement and I am happy to say this hair cutter cuts nicely, and gives a scalp massage at the same time. The rotary, onmi-directional cutter makes it a little easier to get an even haircut, but an additional trimmer is needed to taper the sides and back. The cutter includes two 'comb guides' with two settings each. The short guide is for 1/8" and 1/4" length haircuts, and the long guide is for 3/8" and 1/2" length haircuts. A comb guide for 3/4" length haircuts would have been nice; 1/2" is slightly shorter than I like. I see no great advantage over a regular hair clipper; and this cutter has the disadvantage of fewer length options, no angled attachments for trimming around the ears, and an additional trimmer is needed for tapering or blocking on the sides and back, and it is more difficult to clean after use than a regular hair clipper. With these limitations, I think this cutter is overpriced by about half. However, what it does do, it does well.

Good for a crew-cut style
Like a lot of reviewers I got this to keep my hair trimmed while the barbershops are shut down. I like my hair short and it had grown to about an inch and a half long. I charged the Even Cut overnight and used the clippers in a dry bathtub while not wearing a shirt for easier cleanup. With the longest guide on, I cut back-and-forth at first till my hair was short enough to use the circular motion. Like using an orbital sander or buffer. It got my hair down to less than 1/2 inch, about the same as a 3 or 4 clipper at the barber. Overall it worked nicely and gave me a very clean and even cut. You will need a standard clipper or an assistant with comb & scissors to trim around back and ears, the Even Cut doesn't really handle those areas very well. The price was pretty good, for me 2 haircuts and it paid for itself. It seems well-made and has a nice weight to it, not too heavy. The built-in batteries are the older NIMH technology, and I didn't see a way to open this up, so once the batteries start to lose power due to memory build-up then you probably have to junk it. it would have been nice if it used replaceable batteries or at least Li-on rechargeable technology. A few considerations. First, start with dry hair. Wet hair would clog this up pretty quickly and would be a PITA to clean up. The clipper itself isn't listed as waterproof so I doubt you can use it in the shower. Second, you have to stop and shake the hair out of the inside frequently. If you start with longer hair, it fills up pretty fast. If your hair is longer than an inch or so you probably want to use scissors to get it short enough to fit under the clipper. I definitely recommend using the Even Cut in a dry tub or outdoors with your shirt off or you will get hair everywhere. I think the Even Cut is best for maintaining short hair between regular cuts, or for athletes & military guys who just want a standard crew cut and like to keep it neat. If you are going for a particular style a standard clipper is probably the better choice.

Used as intended, it works great.
Use this as intended, but don't expect it to function another way. It's not a clipper, scissor, or razor. If you want a clipper, scissor, or razor, go buy those. I have only ever used the #1 guard and the no guard for closer shaving, and it works great. Take your time and don't expect it to do something it's not designed to do. If you've got very short clipped hair, or bald/nearly to start with, and want to keep it that way, this works fine.

Seems to work well
Used for the first time today and it seemed effective making an even length cut in a reasonably quick time. As expected, I still needed to use scissors for a clean trim around my ears. This was far easier to use than traditional clippers and arrived promptly. FYI: My order came with oil, but no storage bag, scissors, brush or comb - and no explanation why. These items were to be included in the purchase according to the product description.
