... Is keeping our cat from clawing our new box spring
This is an excellent product, even better than I was expecting. The zipper encompasses three of the four edges so that the "encasement" is extremely easy to put on -- and take off, should you want to. The zipper is also "tight," so much so that it's pretty much invisible once it's closed (preventing virtually anything, even very tiny things, from getting to your box spring). I bought this for the new box spring/foundation we've had, as I write, for barely two weeks. We bought the box spring and this encasement, along with a new mattress, for our home bed where bedbugs and other such creatures are not a problem. Instead, I got it in hopes that one of our cats -- who daily was using several corners of our previous nine-year-old box spring as a scratching post -- would stay away from this new box spring due to the VERY tight weave of this encasement. It's working. Roo was, from day 1, far less interested in it, and after systematically redirecting her away from it (she certainly knows what "NO!" means) she is now, instead, using the actual scratching post that's in the bedroom, as our other cats do. Roo is likely not very interested because she can't actually tear the encasement fabric or stick her claws into it in the (to her) same satisfying way she could into the previous box spring. If her claws were very sharp (we keep them trimmed) they might leave pin-point punctures the fabric (she's a small cat, with small claws), but this encasement's fabric is just not tearable. By extension, this encasement must certainly also work to keep out bedbugs, et al, as it's intended. Considering the unusual fabric and zipper, how well this is made, and how much good bedding materials cost these days, the price, I think, is also pretty reasonable.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THINKING THIS COULD NOT HAPPEN TO YOU....BED BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE!
These are great. We had an unfortunate problem with bedbugs after my son spent two months in a group home. They knew they had a problem with them and supposedly had taken care of it. Everything I brought home from there was bagged and immediately brought to the Laundromat to be washed at high temperature and put in dryer on high for 30 minutes....Too late, he must have brought one or two of the buggers home on a visit before we knew anything about it. We tried the home store sprays but ultimately had to pay a thousand dollars to an exterminator. His recommendation was to buy covers for box springs and beds, which we did. My only complaint with the king box spring covers was that they were "extra long" and would have fit much better in the standard size. I guess it would have been a problem if they were too small so that was no biggie. There were other products on the market that were "bed bug certified" but these were more reasonable. Word to the wise...after much anguish and a lot expense and research we made a bad choice. We moved our son out of his "infested" room to a spare bedroom and threw his mattress and box spring away. DO NOT EVER DO THIS....THEY WILL TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES TO FIND A HOST. WE ENDED UP WITH A FEW IN TWO ROOMS BUT MANY IN THE ROOMS MY SON INHABITED. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY COVERS FOR ALL OF YOUR MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS. IT IS WORTH THE AGONY, STRESS AND EXPENSE THAT COMES ALONG WITH THESE CRITTERS. BELIEVE ME, WE ARE CLEAN PEOPLE THAT CHANGE OUR SHEETS, KEEP OUR HOUSE CLEAN AND DO NOT HAVE BUGS, EXCEPT FOR AN OCCASIONAL ANT!!

The best.
It doesnt crinkle, doesnt make noise. Just a good thick protection for the mattresses with a good terry cotton top. It looks like it will last for some time, even the zipper - unlike some more expensive ones that I had in the past where the zipper broke instantly and were garbage made in china. Would definitely buy again and recommend this one!

Bugs Defeated
We are heading into our third year in what is probably the worst apartment complex in our area. The professional pest control they employ is, I presume, the cheapest they can find; their spotty visits are basically pointless. After two years of fighting roaches (and the occasional mouse) in our fourth floor unit, we suspected that we would not escape a bedbug invasion forever. It finally hit not long ago, going mostly untreated for a couple of weeks because we could not afford to take harsher measures than vigorous vacuuming and frequent washing of the bedding. (We've been stuck in this pit of an apartment complex for a reason.) When we could finally spare the funds, I considered cheaper options for a bedbug encasement, but decided that it was worth it to me to spring for higher quality. I have not been disappointed. After soaking the harborage area I found in the box spring with Harris Toughest Bed Bug Killer, Gallon Spray , I put this cover into place. The nightly attacks have stopped suddenly. I believe neither my husband nor I have gotten fresh bites since, despite the alarming number of bugs at various stages I found in our box spring. I have a response to the several pictures of bedbug feces clustered around the zipper closure for this and the matching mattress cover. I am not a pest professional and this is the first time I've had to deal with the mini-menace, but I would guess, based on what I've seen, that those bugs are not entering or exiting the box spring, but coming from elsewhere in the room and clustering around the zipper closure because it's as close as they are going to get to a hiding place on this cover. Remember that bedbugs are insidious; treat the whole room/house with extreme prejudice or an undiscovered nest will simply replenish the population. Everything I read says that you have to continue treating until it is completely certain that there are no more viable bugs. Even before I was able to purchase this item, I chose to wash everything on the bed every two days, spraying--at a minimum--the mattress, box spring, and baseboards with a small canister of poison that I bought for the interim. I continued this treatment schedule after adding the SafeRest cover until the bites had almost all healed and could not be mistaken for new ones. I plan to move to once a week at this point, and I'll see how I feel about it when my gallon of poison runs out. Regardless, I credit this encasement with part of the success we have had.
