it protrudes from the wall a bit, definitely not flat. It should work fine if you just keep the bookshelf a few inches off the wall. Hope that helps!

Q: What is the gauge of the wire? Generally 14 or 16. I could not find this in any of the specifications.

14 gauge, SJT. But the breaker will trip if you go past 15 amps.

Q: Do 3 prong plugs fit easily into the outlets or do you have to struggle to plug rhem in ?
