Question 1

I put this in my fountain pen and it clogged up. Is this really formulated for fountain pen use as well?

Accepted Answer

Despite what the bottle says NEVER EVER EVER PUT ANY Windsor and Newton Calligraphy ink in any fountain pen! This ink has pigment particles just like the inks used for painting pictures. While there are some inks made by companies such as Platinum and De Atramentis that have a type of pigment in them that is fountain pen friendly no Winsor & Newton inks are safe for fountain pens. I'm hoping that is possible to remove both the nib and feed from the fountain pen that is clogged. You're going to have to do some scrubbing gently with a very very soft toothbrush on the outside of the feed. For the inside of the feed you might try Koh-I-Noor Rapido-Eze Pen Cleaner. If that doesn't work you may want to try a stronger ammonia and water solution at maybe 2/10 ammonia to water, instead of a 1/10 solution. There's also speedball cleaner which I use at times in a pen that fountain pen ink has dried in the feed. Unfortunately the agents that are used to clean calligraphy ink off of nibs would destroy the feed to your pen. If you have any questions or need further help feel free to contact me or you might try emailing Goulet pens at info@gouletpens.com. Another site you might try is penhero.com.

Question 2

will this winsor and newton ink smudge when colored with an alcohol based marker?

Accepted Answer

Yes, alcohol will disturb ink an any instance. I use alcohol to remove ink lettering from model railroad cars to refinish them.

Question 3

Will this stay on a glossy ceramic ornament without rubbing off?

Accepted Answer

No, you want a pigment ink that specifically states that it's waterproof. Even then, it's wise to wait until dry and use a spray ale glossy varnish to seal it. Steadtler makes permanent waterproof pens for writing on acetate sheets that stays put very well. Just be sure it is the permanent version, but again, seal it with a spray varnish for absolute permanence.

Question 4

Is it non toxic, safe for tattoos ?

Accepted Answer

No, this is not tattoo ink, nor should it be used as such
