Kendal Vivid Large Deer Handcrafted Wood Cuckoo Clock with 4 Dancers Dancing with Music

Couple of things: the clock is made of wood, not plastic, except the bird. The dial is white, not golden as shown in the pictures. The clock pretty much looks the same as in the official photo. The finish of the wood is nice (not too glossy) and the shade is rich chocolate brown. The wood carvings are decent,but the details are nowhere near the level of an authentic black forest clock (so is the price:)). A true certified cuckoo clock from Germany of this size with the given features would be more than a thousand dollars. This one doesn't have the fine carvings and details in a real cuckoo clock, and the wood contours have less 3D feel to it. Setting up the clock was super easy and hanging on the wall doesn't need anything more than a simple nail, given the weight. The cuckoo sound is fine (not a fan of the echo), but the music is a bit dull, missing the high frequencies and different sounding than a Swiss music box. Overall, I would place the clock in a personal place like a bedroom or a hallway, but maybe not as a centerpiece in a formal living room. Given the size, the features and the wooden look and feel, I would consider this a fair value for money.

It only sounds during daylight. Everyone likes its looks, sounds and substantial size. Our 5 year old runs to the kitchen every time it sounds and takes a drink of water - which she agreed to do if we got this clock and put it in the living room of our isolated, off grid, ranch house. Sneaky aren't we? Guess who is better hydrated and healthier now? - - Edit: we are a month away from the 5 year anniversary of having purchased this clock. Still perfect, still running flawlessly. - - Edit: nearly six years now. Still like new. - - Edit: seven years. Still flawless. Now 12, our daughter still drinks water when it sounds. Important here in the high desert.

It is big and really easy to set up. The tunes that the dancers dance to varies from hour to hour. I'm not sure just how many different ones there are. This replaced my vintage cuckoo clock that I purchased in Germany in 1977. It simply wore out. Delivery was simple and really fast. I would recommend this product and the seller.

This is a pretty big cuckoo clock, which I just love. It makes a very pretty "furnishing" to my living room. I bought a cuckoo clock about 20 years ago but had to replace it because the terminals got so corroded, but I have that hanging in my bedroom, just because it is such a pretty piece. The Kendal clock keeps perfect time, (no "cuckoo" noises, thank you), and it is pretty much what I expected and I'm very happy that I bought it.

So ugly, that it's ADORABLE! I've had this for about three hours with the two "D" batteries in it and so far I love it. Be sure to buy two "D" batteries when you order this so you can get it going right away. Besides cuckooing with a cute little echo, each hour it plays a different nursery rhyme tune, like Bingo, Baa Baa Black Sheep, etc. You can turn the sound off, or the built in light sensor will turn it off for you when it's dark. You can choose a high or low setting for the sound. I have mine set on low and that's just perfect. The wood is beautifully hand-carved and the clock is an impressive size (check product measurements). I'm thinking of getting some of these for my kids for Christmas. I think the grand kids will enjoy growing up with this cuckoo clock! Very nostalgic.
