It's polished, and the edges are smooth, no snags anywhere. It stays in place in my very fine hair, although I do use a bobby pin as an anchor just to be sure. It's high quality and comes in a charming net bag, so could be a nice little gift also.

I was hesitant to purchase this as I have never purchased an item like this for my hair. I have very curly hair that is fine, but I have a lot. I was able to put my hair up almost like a french twist and use this to clasp it up. I am in love with this clip and it has become one of my favorites now. I wish they offered more colors than black and tortoise. The tortoise doesn't really show and it looks more brown. I would purchase again if they came in other colors.

I really love these no metal hair barrettes. I use them all the time in stead of pulling it back in a ponytail.
