Is the seal meant to be placed on the edge of the door or on the frame around the door? Is this removable without damaging anything?

The side that sticks seems to be about 1 MM thick. The flap side is thinner than that but thicker than regular tape

Does this remove paint or the finish from a wooden surface when it's removed ?
