Your hand or a child's hand fits easily inside the puppet. Your fingers easily manipulate the motions of the head and paws. I gave this as a gift to a four year old, who had no trouble making this puppet " come to life ".

Is this a hand puppet? Can you put your hand inside like you put on a glove, so you can move the mouth and front legs?

Yes, it is a hand puppet and very nicely made. The mouth and front legs can move with your fingers.

I've bought the item, however, do you have a black or a calico puppet?

I do carry a black cat puppet search this number on Amazon B00I0GWSQK

Can this puppet be washed in a wash machine?

Depends on you. Probably should hand wash surface. But some have machine washed.
