Mossy Oak 2-Piece Fixed Blade Bowie Knife Set, Hunting Knife with Sheath

I keep a fixed blade on everything piece of equipment that I own . 4 wheeler, tractor, side by side, truck, etc. Not for protection but I always need a knife. These keep a egde very well are comfortable in hand and are good quality. Price is great . Sheath could be better but works . I would buy again.

Extremely sharp blade. Great purchase

Good knives. Solidly built, nice looking, and came with a good edge. Sheathes take a bit of effort to get knives in and out, but they also include a polymer pocket of sorts for the knives to sit in inside the fabric to keep them secure. They don't move whatsoever once in. Seen some other complaints that the handles can be a little slick, I suppose, but that's why there's a handguard. There's also enough swell and a big enough groove where I don't find grip to be an issue at all. They also shine up nicely with some polish and a little hand grease. Good value.

Just like every knife I have bought no matter the brand the keeper strap I too short. Don’t think it would hurt profits to make them a quarter inch longer

Nice and great value and quality

I paid $18 for the set. If you’d like to kill stuff. This is a great knife. I gave the smaller knife to my kid and she kills stuff. Good for killing stuff. Lots of family fun guaranteed.

Exelent for the $$

This duo of knives arrived on time. They were well packed in a box containing another item, a vine review item. I purchased this pair thinking that it was such an incredibly low price I could not pass it by. I have other knives from Mossy Oaks purchased a few years ago, two to be exact and fort the money they are of excellent quality in every respect. They too were an incredible value. This pair is one that I wish that I had not purchased. Oh yes, they are priced very low. You could not buy a sandwich and a cup of coffee for the amount asked, but still they are less than the quality that I would expect to receive from this brand. First of all, I noted that the laminated leather grip with a high rise for the palm offered very little twisting resistance. Poor stability even in a hand with great strength. Easy twisting applied to the blade demonstrated this serious problem. The guards at the hilt provide little protection for the hand now that stability depends on a full wrap around grip to attain only a fair amount of twist resistance. Overall the detail work on both is poor...to none at all. No smoothing of metal parts and edges. The knives have almost a wire edge or sharp bevel on the top of the blade. This was more noticeable on the larger knife. The larger knife cannot be used with the sheath provided because it does not slide freely in and out of the plastic insert. I would imagine that it took a very forceful push of up to eighty lbs. coupled with a slight rocking action to get it to nest to hilt depth. The drawing of a knife looped to your belt would be impossible unless you are willing to risk serious injury from your Levis in the groin area. Totally ridiculous fit of the blade in the sheath. The little knife was snug in the sheath provided, but it was not the resistive terror that beset its big brother. Next, I purposely dropped one of the knives on a hard tile floor to check loose sounds. I was met not with a ringing report from quality tempered steel but a definitive clank. That clank or better KLANK is t he best onomatopoeia that I could think of. Somewhat of a disappointment that caused me to wonder if there was a possibility that a blade might break. Oh, I realize that this is 2025 and not back in the days of Davy Crockett but still I can remember my grab for my real Bowie knife when confronted by a large mountain lion with kits. There comes a time when a good blade is your fastest action weapon, a true spur of the moment life saver. The lady cat decided that I was not a threat because I spoke gently to her and she decided that I was not a threat. My grandpa gave me that knife and it was my pride and joy for many years until I passed it along to my eldest son. Neither of these knives is that, and neither of these is costing an arm and a leg so I am really not complaing about price, just the detail work, the design, and the poor fit of the larger knife in the sheath provided. If you buy something, even at a bargain price you expect things to work. The price is actually less than what I paid for a single Bowie style hunting knife from Western in Denver when I was a kid many years ago. Those knives all featured laminated leather disks applied over a full tang. That knife had a large grip giving you a solid feel. Back in those days there was no monotonous mantras concerning ergonomics. I give a hang for that, everybody claims they have something with ergonomic appeal everything from writing pens to toilet seats. I know that a tool like a knife that is carried for defense and self protection is not judged by its ergonomic properties. So the knives would make a nice gift as a starter kit for a young but mature knife collector. They look pretty darn good and come packaged for gifting...probably their best use. I am taking away a star for overall quality of the blade, and another for the unusable out of the box sheath for the big un'. But with consideration to the price I am putting one star back So four stars for overall value. At this special limited price offer you should not expect Gerber or Ka-Bar performance. However, Mossy Oaks does make some low cost decent knives therefore, it is in my opinion that it is a serious mistake for their brand to appear on inferior cheaply made merchandise. I paid for a Hamburger the other day with all the fixings like onions, pickles, mustard, and MEAT! The price was considered by some as a great buy...only $15.00 . The buns were extra...I, kinda wish that I had ordered them cuz I got mustard stains on my pink velvet jacket. All of that being expressed it is obvious that this duo is not for me. It was disappointing because I was hoping that the smaller knife would be good to scout carry on my person.

Tough knives, ran over the big one with my tractor by accident and it didn’t break, hold and edge well but the handles do get weird after they have been exposed to water, but for the price you can’t beat them

Really good looking knife for the money and you get them sharp.

Specifications: • Blade thickness: 3.6 mm & 2.1 mm • Total blade length: 5.8 inches & 4.1 inches • Made in China • Fuller ("blood groove") on one side only (the big knife, the small one has no fuller) The manufacturer says it is a full tang. It is really hard to believe that: the handle is so light that the tang has to be very thin ("rat tail") if it is full. It does not make an impression of a strong sturdy unbreakable knife! But the handguard and everything else fit tight and do not rattle. Condition: 5 stars. No defects, scratches, stains or rubs. Sharpness: 5 stars. They were pretty good out of the box, I honed them a bit more and now they are shaving-sharp, especially the smaller one. Sheaths: 5 stars. The knives fit tight, no problems with the sheaths so far, but… but I have another Mossy Oak knife, a bigger one (10-inch blade — see pics), and it has exactly the same sheath but larger. After a few months, the plastic insert disengaged from that sheath, and now every time I pull that knife out of its sheath it comes out with that plastic insert! I tried to fix it with superglue but it didn't work out. But it is THAT sheath, from THAT knife — these ones are okay so far. Maybe one of the reasons is that I don't use these knives nearly as often as the big one, which I use nearly every time I go to the woods. Handle: 4 stars. When the leather gets dry it expands a little and does not cling tightly to the handle anymore. I submerged it in warm water and the leather shrank back. It is a good idea to apply some leather conditioner as well. The handle of the bigger knife seems a little thin for my regular-sized hand; the smaller one is just... small. Sturdiness: 3 stars (big) and 2 stars (small). I tried the bigger knife at some basic woodwork, like whittling and light-duty chopping. Nothing remarkable in terms of cutting performance :(( But it did not fall apart but I'm afraid to put it to a more strenuous test. In general, these knives look fabulous on a display but it is hard to imagine them in any heavy-duty work.

I'd pay this much for the one big knife, and got a second as a bonus! Gave to my son, he loves it. Stood up well and held an edge all camping season. Very sharp. Sheath is one of the best I've seen with any low price consumer knife. Stainless Blade is obviously more brittle than steel but will do any domestic activities you want from it.

The two Mossy Oak hunting knives arrived on the dated given. I was impressed with the quality of the knives for the price I paid for them. The leather handle on these knives are comfortable to the grip, with a good thick, solid blade with a fine sharp edge. the blade is beautifully crafted. Though I would like to test these knives in the woods to see how durable they are and to see how well they hold out when under extensive use. Since I have not tested these blades, I am a bit hesitant about recommending them, so I am going to take this on faith and recommend that if you are looking for a great looking set of hunting knives. look no further, these two knives are exactly as advertised. Now as for how well these knives hold out under use, the jury is still out on that? Maybe I might write another review on these knives once I have tested these knives out in the field.
