John McDonald's Maine Trivia: A Storyteller's Useful Guide to Useless Information

Book had me cracking up with regards to a joke concerning a survey team having to tell a farmer his property wasn't in Maine but just across the border in New Hampshire whose reply was "Well, thank you, young fella, for that news, and thank the good Lord, too. You know, I was just sitting here wondering how I was going to make it through another Maine winter." Book contains both snappy illustrations and a broad range of subject matters including :1) Maine (of course)2) History and Politics3) Nature and Wildlife4) Sports5) Art and Literature6) Places7) Wild Card / Bonus Questions (not in that order)If you're interested at all about learning things like on what Maine river the USA suffered it's greatest naval defeat prior to Pearl Harbor, who the first woman was to have her name placed in nomination for president by a major political party, what percent of Maine blueberries are sold fresh, or which Maine native created TMNT then get this book for an entertaining read for these answers and many more interesting factoids. Very good book that I did enjoy!

Interesting information & tips on Main.

Some interesting and fun trivia and other facts about Maine. I enjoyed it more because I lived in Maine for three years. It's well written and very readable, but not something I'd recommend to anyone who didn't already have an interest in Maine and/or history. However, for those who enjoy being immersed in historical trivia and/or facts about Maine, it will be quite enjoyable.

I have never been to Maine and I still enjoyed this book. I thought it gave you great information in a humorous way.Now I actually want to plan a trip to see the place I have learned so much about. It was a fun, quick read that you canpick up and put down as you wish (great bathroom material)

...and be careful, you may just learn something about Maine! I sure did and I enjoyed every minute of it. Maine is one of my favorite states and even though I have only been there once, I loved every minute of that trip too. I can't wait to go back now that I know more of its history, character, and the way of things in Maine. Oh, and I still need to see a moose!

I purchased this book because I live in Maine. It's a quick read and fun to have when guests come to visit. It has some facts that are interesting whether you live in Maine or not.
