Q: Are the threaded bolts and nuts chrome too?

The bolts are chrome but the nuts are specially designed hard plastic that when tighten down in place the toilet seat will not come loose over time like they used to. I used this model for several years now and I haven't had to tighten the nuts because the seat stays in place and don't slip around.

Q: Are the hinges solid or pop off?

If you have the metal hinged one, the hinges never come off, without heroic measures. And that's one reason it's the Never Come Loose toilet seat. That kind also has a nut on the bolt that is difficult or impossible to remove after installation, by design, as people like me thump down so hard that I break all normal seat hinges within weeks or days. Just enthusiastic, I guess. If you have plastic hinges, then it's a normal toilet seat and you can remove it relatively easily.

Q: Why do black marks appesr on front of sest

Might help if I could see what your talking about but the only time I've seen dark marks is when the painted layer is heavily scuffed and damaged. If tucking man junk into toilet seat, maybe a wedding ring is scraping the seat? Or something bumping the seat?

Send it back to Amazon. W/o the bolts and screws it’s not easy to find spare parts. It should never have arrived w/o the instruction brochure either. Send it back
