WL 4TB 64MB Cache 5400RPM SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 3.5" Internal Surveillance DVR Hard Drive - w/ 1 Year Warranty

Have been using for around 6 months as a DNLA network drive w/ USB 3 enclosure. No issues encountered so far having added to capacity (4TB) and deleted files amounting to several Terabytes both ways. Runs a little noisy sometimes, but mostly quiet. Write speeds vary wildly based on where your data is originating. Copying from SSD results in very fast transfers (~150+MB/s) and HDD (5400) to HDD (5400) has average to bad transfer speeds (~40-50MB/s). My drive is a 5400RPM drive as advertised. Would recommend for cheap storage solution where data loss risk is acceptable.

Works, S.M.A.R.T seems clean and new as intended. arrived super quick. Recommended, seems very good value.

I've had this hard drive running as a parity drive in my unraid server 24/7 for about 6 months now. So far no issues. I was hesitant using it given all the techno forums saying name brand only. Bit the server and testing I ran before install reported good health and have had no issues so far. Redundancy is always a good practice ( don't do it well myself) but I plan on buying more to swap out these 500gb drive I have

Got this drive for $54 and I've had it for a few weeks at the time of writing, March 5th, 2022. So far it's been a great drive with no problems. The only complaint I have is the false advertising of this being a 5400rpm drive, it is actually a 7200RPM drive. That being said, I was hoping it would indeed be 7200rpm so in that regard I am satisfied! It's quite fast, sequential read/writes of 170mb/s and it's also not too loud compared to another 3TB white label drive I own. Obviously with these WL drives it's hard to say how long they will last, but I don't store anything too important on them so reliability isn't critically important for me. If/when this drive does start to have problems or SMART errors I will update this review. My other 3TB WL drive is still going strong after 1.2+ years.

I have been running a couple of these since 2022 and still going strong (2026) - I'm only writing this review because one of my WD drives died (i bought the WD after these) and needs replacing and so i figured i would buy one of these again. Unfortunately it's now 3x the price it was in 2022 and doesn't really make sense vs a namebrand.

I bought the drives for a home NAS and could never get the drives to pass S.M.A.R.T. Testing and the OS logged numerous read and write errors till the drive could no longer be recognized by the OS. Warranty link doesn’t work and Amazon only has a 30day return.

I've been purchasing these drives for a while to back up my video files and things. So far, so good. They've all worked properly and been brand new, no hours, and no bad sectors. I think I'm up to 4/5 of these now.

Updated: This was advertised as 5400RMP in the description but shows up as 7200RMP but in Hard Disk Sentinel. I wanted 5400RMP because I am using this for storage for low heat in an external enclosure or with my docking station. Lucky I want be using this as must other than storage. I should have looked at the reviews more closely. This sucks, they need to check their hard drives before shipping them out. I hope this doesn't fail but right now it's says the health is at 100
