APP no longer supported, can't change temp/color/brightness of light
Lights worked as intended. At times they'd lose connection and could be hard to re-pair to the wifi/app. As of 6/18/25 I have been unable to use my lights via my phone or echo. Unable to log in to app, Unable to make a new account, Unable to Reset Password. "<Operation Failed, please try again>" Upon searching Sengled on google <Sengled app down> was the first dropdown. Leading me to a Reddit with 850upvotes and 1.8k comments at the time of this review. No statement has been made from the company, No email, Offical site still up selling product, Amazon sales still up. CHOOSE ANOTHER LIGHT!

Extremely unreliable. Will leave you S.O.L.
So, I'm usually not one to leave a product review because positive reviews after hours, days, or weeks of using a product is deceptive. But now, having these since 2021, I can confidently say I really can not recommend this product. PROS: 1. They did work great at first. They are light bulbs. Its hard to go wrong as long as they... light...... right?... 2. Set up, although with poor instructions, wasn't rocket science. Cons: 1. The set-up instructions are extremely poor. 2. They require you to download and set them up in a separate app (their personal app) before you can connect them to your Alexa or Google. 3. They are not reliable . I own six bulbs, and sometimes one or two of them would suddenly become unreachable on my network (more on this later). I could still operate my light switch manually, but that defeats the purpose of this bulb. I would just have to wait until they magically started working again. I wasted time resetting them and try ing to reconnect, to no avail. 4. Customer service is non-existent (oh we are about to get into it now!) Now we get into the REAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN 5... Because they do not use a hub (e.g zigbee), they must maintain connection to sengled's servers to operate. This is where we have a combination of ALL the above cons baked into one big THIS SUCK donut. This is not explained or specified ANYWHERE in their literature, app, etc. Their servers have been unreliable, hence the random disconnection from the network. Over the last few months, they have had outages spanning weeks..... with ABSOLUTELY ZERO INFORMATION, APOLOGY, OR NOTIFICATION FROM SENGLED. There is no customer service to assist you. Nothing you can do but wait. Two of my bulbs are stuck at 10% brightness because the outage happened while they were dimmed. Can I reset the bulbs manually (done by flicking the light switch a few times) and hope they go back to default brightness... sure. Will I? No because the server is still down with no eta of restoration or notice from Sengled.... again. I am just done with them as a company at this point and can not recommend anything from them at all.

ALL 4 BULBS STOPPED WORKING AFTER 1 YEAR
UPDATE: apparently, the company’s server went down and that’s why I was unable to manage my lights through the app. The app is back up and working. From what I have read if my lightbulbs were compatible with a zigbee hub, I would not have had this issue. These lights are not compatible with the zigbee hub June 2025:. These were great for a year then they stopped connecting to the app and the only way to turn the bulb on is manually. This gives you basic light but you cannot control the color or brightness of the bulb. I have 4 bulbs, 1 in an office lamp, 2 in bedroom lamps, and 1 in a hallway light fixture. I did everything that they suggest for troubleshooting but they still don't work. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and now I can't log in or get access to the app at all. I emailed the company several times but they never responded.

Short life span
Easy to install but doesn’t last very long. After 6 or 7 months turns itself on, usually in the middle of the night, resets itself and ultimately stops working

Great smart color changing bulbs at a great value!
I've had so many expensive brands of smart bulbs in the past that need their own hubs and can be complicated. These were a lot cheaper, have lasted, the App made them super easy to use, and who doesnt like being being to have lights that change colors! I made sure each child had one in their room and they love being able to set thier own mood lighting! The colors are great, they dont even get that hot, and love the simplicity!

It's hard to make the worst product on the market, but Sengled accomplished it.
I got these bulbs about a year ago. At the time, they worked pretty well. Pairing to the app was a bit of a pain, but after that, they did what I expected - light levels and colors were simple enough to control from Alexa or the app itself, routines worked, it was good. But then, weird things started happening. It was small things at first - bulbs not firing routines like they should, but still responded to manual changes. App reporting "no internet" on my phone, when I clearly had it. Annoyances sure, but nothing that made them unusable. Over time, some of them were starting to randomly flash off and on, without any apparent pattern or cause. This flashing was often reported by other people, but no apparent fix ever came. Then, some update released a little while before this review, and the most miraculous thing happened! All of my Sengled bulbs - every single one, without fail or exception - stopped working. All of them. Bedrooms, offices, living room, every bulb to the last was now mysteriously and permanently unreachable by the app. I figured at first that it surely had to just be the app itself, since Alexa would be able to change them. But, Alexa doesn't see them either anymore. While they turn on (insofar as I switch on the light and they come on that way), they now apparently lost the ability to communicate with anything, making them essentially useless next to a conventional bulb. One might think it was a networking issue, but extensive testing of the wifi clearly showed it working as expected, with every other device in the house able to reach it without issue. In spite of that, I went through the steps to check the bulbs were paired (they were, at first), that they could do their reset routine, every single step suggested by the manufacturer, and a number of steps that weren't but make sense if you're into networking at all. The only thing I can figure is their most recent firmware update must've fried something. There's a sentence I never thought I'd write in my life - "my lightbulb got busted by a firmware update" - but here we are. So now I have a pile of bulbs that don't work. That wouldn't be enough to merit a review on the topic, except it's clear that the manufacturer seems to give no regard to it, if their app reviews are any indication. Just one canned response after another with zero help. Quite a few people in a similar situation. If you'd asked me 6-8 months ago if these were a good deal, I'd say yes. Right now, I'd suggest you avoid them as hard as you can, unless you want to set up a bulb that will instantly destroy itself the minute it updates its firmware. There are tons of other options here on Amazon, and many of them don't have random failures or hardware setup pains like these seem to. Do yourself a favor. Avoid Sengled. Put them down, don't look back, and get something that actually works.

Super great lights with one caveat
These lights are really great and they're super easy to get started with. Just download the Sengled Home app (which allows you to connect the lights to your WiFi). Then from there you'll be able to add them to Google Home, SmartThings, etc. even if you uninstall the app. The app does come with some pretty cool features like a Halloween mode where it switches between orangey colors. It has random color modes and a few other nifty things. Normally I like to uninstall apps I don't particularly need but I decided to keep it because of an amazing feature that I think I'll use all the time now: sunset and sunrise. Set a time and the lights will start dimming to 0% over the desired period of time (5, 10, and 15 minutes) for sunset or going to 50% for sunrise. I'm not sure why sunrise only goes to 50% (I've only just used it this morning), but I like it and it's not too harsh on your eyes in the morning. I also really like how short the delay is between the Sengled Home app and the lights. I usually use SmartThings, but when I use the real app and I change the color or brightness, the light changes pretty much instantly. Most smart lights take a second to update so this is pretty cool. The color range on these is decent and it displays colors pretty brightly. What this means is if you want bright colored lights then that's perfect but if you want a dark mood and want to set the lights to dark purple or something then forget it. You can't even do dark purple with these lights it's more of a purpley white. Dark red is great and dark blue is pretty bright (but pretty dark too so good job). Most RGB lights have issues pulling off a good dark purple, so I won't take away any stars for that. The attached photo shows dark purple at 100% brightness. The ONLY issue I've run into is that curiously some of the lights randomly turn on. I've made sure there weren't any scenes or automations that were telling it to turn on. This morning one of my lights just randomly went full brightness at 2:14am. I hope this is a bug that gets fixed or just a super rare issue. It also happened earlier in the day yesterday so I'm not sure what's going on here. It's only happened twice so I can't say it's bothering me but it did wake me up in the middle of the night and make me think I was supposed to get up. Anyway, I'm very satisfied with this product but please fix this!

Very reliable once setup, frustrating connectivity issues when setting up
I've had 4 of these for a few years. Once they are setup and configured, they are super reliable and great. They have good color coverage and great white temperature range. I primarily use them through Google Home to control all of the lights I have. It's a set it and forget it bulb. However, if you need to reset them or make changes to them (e.g. I recently got a new wifi router and had to change everything), then they are very frustrating. The biggest issue is that the initial setup of the connection is incredibly unreliable. The bulbs are easy to connect to but getting the bulb to join your wifi fails about 3/4 times. It will say check your password, even though the other bulbs were able to connect with the exact same copy-pasted password. If you keep retrying, eventually it will connect. The other issue which I had to figure out through trial and error is that these seem to only support WPA2 security. If you have a newer router that supports WPA3, then you may need to set it to only use WPA2 on your 2.4ghz network. I couldn't get them to connect at all with WPA3 enabled, even in a WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode. Essentially, they were great for what existed a few years ago when I bought them, but compared to my newer Matter enabled bulbs, I think these are only worth it if you can get a great sale price.
