I used this to open Gateron milky yellow pro mechanical switches to film them. The process was very simple (see the video right here on Amazon), and I realized I could just let the base of the switch sit there on the opener, lift the top off carefully so as not to disturb the spring, place the film, and then return the top of the switch to its base without messing with the insides. My switches came pre-lubed, so I didn't want to remove the lube by handling them. Can't imagine opening all those switches without one of these gadgets. The opener is made of metal, closes magnetically, and it's pretty, too, kind of a shimmery purple. I like that you can pick your color. Good quality. Now if only I could remember where I put it...

Does exactly what you want it to, can open switches and has a string attached to put it on a keychain or similar. I absolutely love the little magnets that hold it together, too. Worth the few bucks to get one of these if you plan on building a keyboard.

I've used it with Kailh Box White switches and Holy Panda (V1) switches, and it worked well. It's made from quality CNC'd aluminum, arrived without any blemishes. The strap keeps the two halves together, and the magnets keeps it closed. The magnets are strong enough to hold them together, and paired with the strap, even if you don't intentionally close the box, the magnets will probably find each other regardless. It's just a nice little device.

Writing this review for anyone that wants to lube AKKO switches. I'm not sure how different all their switches are but from what I can tell they are all the same. I used Creamy Yellow pros AKKO switches and this worked perfectly! Was a bit weary of this separator due to other reviews but I had a great time. It didn't feel like it was hard to open the switches, it just took a moment to get used to. Please review what AKKO switches you're getting before buying this but I think this was a win in my book and I'll be using it for future projects!

Opens key switches without issue. Very handy to have for modding keys. High quality.

I've opened several switches with these and haven't had any issues with fit or anything getting stuck. Would recommend.
