You have to break them in wear them until you have all the wrinkels in the right place before using then strip them down apply one light coat put in the oven very low heat about 170 to 190 until dry take out let cool then buff with sand paper or steal wool pad brush off any excess of luster then repeat second coat but skip the last Sandpaper steal wool pad and let air dry in cool oven . Its the army way I did for 10 years never fell . 101

How long does the shine last and what does the shine look like over time (before the next waxing)?

I put my parade boots back in my closet after using them. And they have never lost their shine. You just wipe off the dust and you’re good to go. You don’t need to put any wax on after you’re done with leather luster. The only time you need to apply anything is when you scuff part of the boot and you need to use steel wool to scratch that area. Then put another coat of leather luster on to make it look like new again.

How do you open the cans?! Are they twist off? Because they won’t open.

They are twist off with a metal seal underneath. You may need to use a pair of pliers to open them. That’s fine so the product can’t leak out.
