Q: do you have to put it together?

No, you don't have to put it together or assemble it. However, the only problem with this one is that the "fork" is very flimsy - it breaks easily. We have to tape it in order to make it a "fork"-lift again. Other than though this is a nice and cute (actually tiny) running (manually) fork lift with sound.

Yes, it's yellow; 3,5 inches high

Q: Nice looking machine, but I can't tell what scale it is. Would you please tell me the scale or how wide the model is?

I just measured it a few seconds ago and it measures 5.25" long (from tip of fork to the end of the chassis) it is 2" wide and 3.25" tall.

Q: would it be perfect size for a cake decoration?

Wow, what a cake that would be! Yes, I think that would work because my disappointment was the size. It is pretty small.
