Outstanding Read!
Clear and compelling Biblical exposition. I'd suggest this book for anyone seeking to know more about that character of the scriptures.

A Great Reminder of the Inerrancy and Authority of God's Word
Reading the introductions from prior printings of this book we are reminded that the drift away from understanding the Bible as God's inerrant and authoritative word is not a new phenomenon. It is hard not to feel, however, that God's church is accelerating in its drift further and further from the truth. Scripture often finds itself viewed through the lens of current social norms even among people who would identify as Christians. The "scholars" who study and teach the Bible are somehow becoming wiser (in their own eyes) than those who faithfully lived through and wrote down Scripture under divine inspiration. If you at least nominally identify as a Christian, but find you "don't agree with everything in the Bible" then I'd humbly suggest that you have no basis for believing any part of the faith. If God was wrong about some stuff, or if you believe Scripture is not actually inerrant and inspired by and therefore protected by God as men wrote it all down, then how can you believe any of it? How can you be sure you got it right when God did not?Clearly there is no answer to that last question unless you are claiming to be a better god than God, and that's a dangerous place to be. I find this book to be a great exploration of these issues and more. If you believe, this book with strengthen your faith. If you view the Bible as a book of suggestions from which it is OK to pick and choose and reinterpret at will, I think this book will give you a good intellectual challenge, and I hope you don't shy away from it!If you do not in any way identify with Christianity but are perplexed at why so many Christians cling to God's word as inerrant, authoritative and unchanging, this book will explain that to you!

I am a simple Christian
I am a simple Christian. I have not attended seminary. I do not work in a church. I am one of God's flock who tries to live by the word of God."God has Spoken" has been an inspired read. I read it first out loud to my spouse. The writing is simple but there were a lot of words I looked up (sometimes three on a single page) because neither one of us could adequately define the term. This was enlightening in itself and sometimes lead us down rabbit holes that were also informative though outside of the book. The first reading took me way longer than it should have. The second reading was just to myself. I had to stop a lot less often to revisit terms. The ideas expressed settled into my mind much easier and I got a lot out of the book.I still have more to get out of this little gem. The words he writes are sometimes answers to question I myself have asked.I am a simple Christian, but isn't being a Christian simple?I will be keeping my copy of this book for reference and revisiting. I will also gift this to others.

Scholarly treatment of an important subject.
God Has Spoken by J.I. Packer is not an easy read. It would be appropriate as one of the texts in a university theology course focused on the Bible. Anyone who thinks he or she can take a casual approach to this subject needs to think again. This is a book for scholars and readers who appreciate a scholarly approach to a serious subject. Packer’s objective is to give us “a clear and convincing portrayal of the complete infallibility of the biblical text.” Readers of this review might now be thinking of Adam and Eve, the tower of Babel, Noah and his ark, etc. Are Adam and Eve the true parents of all people? Did the confusion of languages occur after Babel, and did a great flood kill all the people on earth except for Noah and his family in the ark. The Bible tells us so, but some readers may beg to differ. I am among that number. Packer’s book was not for me. That said, I would not argue with the many ministers who find great value in what he has done.

Excellent defense of the primacy and inerrancy of the Scriptures.
First I must say that I am a Vine Reviewer and I received this book God Has Spoken for free as part of the Vine program. The Vine program is designed to generate reviews of new products at amazon. This is not a new book it was originally published back in 1979 but this is a new edition and it is a timeless book about the primacy and inerrancy of the Scriptures. J. I. Packer (1926–2020) was an accomplished theologian and author. Yet his books were written in an easy to read formant where any nomenclature is explained so the average reader can understand. You do not need to be a theologian or Pastor to read this book. This is a great book if you wan to read about the Inerrancy of scripture. Packer uses the grammatical Historical method witch takes the Scriptures literally except were in the text indicates a symbolic interruption is needed such as in a parable. This is a very nice looking edition its very old school. It feels good in your hands. God Has Spoken is a wonderful book and I highly recommend.

Excellent Title On The Supremacy Of The Bible
"God Has Spoken" is a great read for anyone who either struggles with believing the Bible or who needs encouragement in holding on to their firm belief that the Bible is indeed God's Word and not just a book of nice moral principles.Around 180 pages, the book addresses several issues, including:- How doubting the Bible has weakened the church.- How those who believe in the Bible's authority have preached and taught the Bible over the centurires.- 3 issues over whether or not the Bible is divinely inspired.- God's general and special revelation.- The vulnerabilities of criticizing the Bible's historical foundation.- Importance of the Bible's inerrancy and infallibility.- Benefits of hearing, believing, and acting out (in the power of the Holy Spirit) God's Word.Very well-written, thought-provoking, and a great challenge to doubters and a great comfort to believers. Recommended.
