Q: Help father in law is 10.5 6E what size should I get him?

I wear an 8.5 W. I'm not sure a 10.5 W would be wide enough. I would think the W woud be equal to a 2E at most. Hope this helps.

Q: Can I not wear socks?

A true boat shoe, especially sailing, you don't want to have wet socks when your sailing. If you just want a casual shoe with socks, this might be ok "for the price" as everyone seems to say but they will dig into you and maybe cut you. I would get a real top sider that last for years instead of a clone.

Q: How is the traction on boat decks? Wet or dry? Like Sperrys, do they lose their traction after one season?

They seem to do really well, I use them on the boat two days a week and am very pleased.
