Good!
Loved the story of Jake and June! This review contains spoilers so stop now if you don't want to read them.Jake and June are childhood sweethearts that are separated by a terrible tragedy when she leaves her summer home at age 15 to go back to the city with her parents. He lives next door and being 17 is caught up in his fathers life of crime as a debt to be repaid. They find themselves again 7 years later going by the name of Lucas only to be separated again when he is jailed for a his fathers disappearance. 6 more years pass and she sees him again after her car was stolen and he works at the shop repairing it. He has been out of jail for 2 years however he never contacts her thinking she is better off without him, that he is no good. But once he sees her and she is so angry he has to explain why he took the plea deal and went to jail for 4 years.During this time she has had his baby, Lily who is now 6 years old and he never knew about her because he returned all her letters unopened she mailed him in prison. They reconnect however she is having a hard time letting go of the past decisions he made without her and she leaves with Lily to go back to the summer home and face the past. He joins her but the past comes back to haunt her as his father who is not dead tries to kill them.Really good writing and story line, couple of things that bugged me are when she goes to get her stuff out of her car at the repair shop, she doesn't take the obvious car seat that he would have seen and known about Lily. The seat is mentioned later so that made it stand out. Then at the end in the epilogue, Liz arrives to see the baby and rings the doorbell, however they go to the door and she is getting out of the car with Dietz and not at the door. Hate inconsistencies, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Missing some closure for me
This is my first read by this author. I enjoyed the storyline for the most part. Some chapters were weird to me based on the POV of the rest of the book, so at times I wasn't sure who I was "hearing". When you read as much as I do, you kind of figure out what will happen in many instances and this was one of them. Steamy? sure. The ending, in my opinion, was kind of missing something and I don't really want to give anything away but I'm not sure really what happened. Who did what at the end and how did a wrongful imprisonment suit come about? This is a 3.5 star read for me.

Current by Abby McCarthy
Current is so different from Abby's Wreck you series, which I loved and couldn't put down. She has brought June and Jakes story to life. You know you are reading a great book when you see the characters come to life. You can picture them in the scene that you are reading. Abby has always been able to give her character's life but in Current I can smell the smells they are experiencing, the swamp, the fish they were cleaning. Mr. Daniels whiskey breath. I love that about Abby!It starts out with Jane in a bar going to met her friend so she an do a review on this band. Her life will forever change as it did the first time she met the love of her life at a young age, but hasn't seen him in years. Her eyes meet Lucas's and she sees something familiar she wants it to be him so bad but it can't be, it's not. But he brings back old feelings that she once felt for her Jake which she thought were buried. She tries to shake it off but she couldn't give it up. She goes back in time remembering, but some of her thoughts were not something she cared to think about. Abby takes you through their story, their ups their downs. Is it him, how could this be. She takes you on a ride of your life. Just as you think everything is going to be ok with them, it's not. Just when you think you know how this story is going to end, you don't. I fell in love with Jake and June, and I hate Mr. Daniels. If ever there is someone who is evil, he is. If you haven't read this yet you are missing a great read. I can't wait to see what else Abby has in store for us in the future. Thank you Abby for taking me on this ride, it was great.

Just so so for me
This is the second title I have read by this author and Current left much to be desired. I struggled between 2 stars and 3, not really sure how to rate. Overall, the emotion of this book fell flat. The scene on the boat when they were kids, which was the catalyst for how their future together, and apart, unfolded, was almost glossed over. You should feel some sort of heartbreak or sadness, but there is just nothing. When the main characters are reunited, and the June doesn't realize Lucas is Jake, I don't even feel anything about her struggle with dealing with her feelings for Jake and her developing feelings for Lucas. Then, they reunite, AGAIN, and he realizes he has a kid and it's instant family! No questions, no hesitation, just everything is great. Even the "dramatic" climax falls flat. By about 50%, I just skimmed for the dialogue and that's only because I felt like there had to be more. There was not more. I was very disengaged with these characters and didn't come out of thus book having lingering thoughts or wonderings. I just felt like with all these obstacles and challenges, everything was just wrapped up in a nice little, unaffected, way.

An emotional roller coaster ride!
This is my first book by this author, but it will definitely not be my last! I’m disappointed in myself that this book was on my TBR for as long as it was. What a roller coaster ride it was. Third time was a charm for this couple, I’m so glad these star crossed lovers got their well deserved HEA. My only regret is that is that I didn’t really get to read enough from Jake’s POV. I would have loved to know how he was feeling, that poor man went through ALOT!

Great book. Epic love story
Its a great story about first love and finding your soul mate. Then having obstacles that keep on separating them. And the love they had for each other even after so many years later.

Loved it!
Fantastic novel by Abby McCarthy. I loved her previous books (the Wrecked series) and was looking forward to her new book. It is different from her previous book but it's excellent!I need books that capture you from the first page and Current does just that. Once you read the Prologue, you won't want to put it down until you figure out how it all plays out. It's a quick, captivating read, and highly recommended!
