Is the total length exactly 23 inches? How long is the wooden handle?

Total is 23" handle is 4 3/4. Blade is 18 1/4. These are great. I love them. I put big chunks of pork meat on them and they work perfect.

Are these dishwasher safe?

The stainless steel part would be okay in the dishwasher, but keep in mind the handles are wood. Although it is hardwood, I've never washed them in my dishwasher.

Can the skewers be used on a gas grill?

If you use these skewers on a gas grill. Important that you keep in mind that the skewers are made with wooden handles. But the skewers are very long allowing the wood handles to hang off the BBQer and not over the fire.
