People with Glass Clocks....
The clock was shipped very promptly and was well packaged. I took a chance buying it because there were no reviews about it, which I usually rely on before buying anything on Amazon. So, since I have the clock, I'll write the first review in hopes it might help someone else. The clock is glass and essentially two dimensional; that is, it is very flat, without much depth. It looks and feels like a glass platter, and its look combines the look of a wagon wheel with a black machine gear. It is different and unusual. Its black markings, such as the numbers, are printed right onto the glass. As far as the numbers go, we liked the fact that the Roman numeral for "4" was printed as "IV" versus the less formal "IIII." A little annoying, however, is that the numbers IV through VIII appear upside down. Inverting those numbers to make them easier to read, as some clocks do, would have been helpful. (Decide for yourself how big of a deal these aspects are to you.) The hands are silver and don't really stand out a lot, but are long enough to make it somewhat easy to tell the time from across the room.A couple mild surprises: 1) The blank spaces between the black print on the clock are clear glass; i.e., you can see your wall color right through the clock where there is no black print. From the picture, it might appear, as it did to me, that the blank spaces between the black print are white. 2) The clock we received reads "ASHTON SUTTON" below the number XII, unlike the one in the photo. The clock does "tick" audibly, but less so than the obnoxiously loud ticking one this clock replaced, so that's an improvement in our living room. I'd say its "tick" sound is in the medium-loud range; we can hear it when the room is quiet. As the clock doesn't have a second hand, I was hoping for very little to no tick, but oh, well. We've only had it up about a day, but so far it appears to keep decent time.I hope this helps ... happy clock hunting!
