STAY AWAY...new company manufacturing this product!
I used to LOVE Deva Curl. Until one day I re-ordered my 'regular' batch Low Poo Delight & Ultra Defining Gel and noticed that it wasn't the same. I didn't think much about it (although I did mention the consistency difference to my hubby;). In the meantime I was loosing a crazy amount of hair, my scalp was a bit itchy and I noticed a few white flakes. Each shower I would cringe at the hair loss. I thought is was pre-menopausal, I had my thyroid, etc. checked out, NEVER attributing the hair loss to the ah-mazing product I had used religiously for SO MANY YEARS! I continued using it (until last week 2/20) when I heard about everyone else's stories that were surprisingly similar to mine. Check out this Facebook page to educate yourself BEFORE you make the same mistake so many others have!!!Hair Damage & Hair Loss from DevaCurl - You're not CRAZY or ALONE!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SUPPLIER!!
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SUPPLIER!! I use this product and love it but went with a less expensive route than buying directly from Devacurl this time and this is AWFUL! It's watered down and not the same consistency as my bottle from the Devacurl website. My hair is not reacting the same way it does with products from Devacurl's website. Do not buy this. Waste of time and money.

Non-Sulfate Shampoos Have Their Own Challenges, but I'm Satisfied with This One.
I switched to non-sulfate shampoo after reading several studies showing that sulfate shampoos leach keratin from hair. I have very fine-textured hair that breaks easily and can't afford to lose keratin. I'm more concerned about breakage than frizz and I hoped a non-sulfate shampoo would help. I tried DevaCurl because it is mentioned on so many "curly girl" web sites and in YouTube videos –and I was looking for something without much scent. DevaCurl Low-Poo Delight has a lotus flower and citrus scent, but it is very light. I have wavy hair, not curly, and I am allergic to lanolin, so I use the Low-Poo Delight, not the Low-Poo Original. I'm on my third bottle now. I buy the big 32-ounce bottles and refill my 12-ounce bottle from that.I have found that non-sulfate shampoo presents three challenges: The first is getting the hair clean. I get a lot of build-up and periodically have to strip my hair (clarify) using a sulfate shampoo. When I began using Low-Poo Delight, I couldn't get my hair clean at all. Without sulfate, you need scrubbing action to remove excess oils. I divide my hair into sections and scrub each one separately. That works. The second issue is that the shampoo is difficult to rinse out. I can't tell you how many times I thought it was fully rinsed only to discover goopy shampoo in my hair when I removed the towel. It seemed like I was wasting a lot of water but not able to rinse my hair. Now I lean over and turn my hair upside-down to both shampoo and rinse. That makes it easier to get the hair clean and to rinse effectively. Then there is the dry time. My thick hair normally takes about 24 hours to air dry, but it was taking twice that with the non-sulfate shampoo plus microfiber towel. It might be good for curly hair, but that combination doesn't work for hair that retains a lot of water. Microfiber hardly absorbs water. I have to use a cotton towel that will absorb a lot of water –but make sure I don't leave it on too long or I will have frizz. I haven't found a perfect solution to this problem yet. I think I need a very lightweight cotton towel. In conclusion, the DevaCurl Low-Poo Delight does reduce frizz and breakage. I have been happy with it since I got the hang of using it. Non-sulfate shampoos are more work, but they leave hair stronger and less frizzy. I think that people with wavy hair will have build-up after a while. It's particularly noticeable on me because my fine-textured hair is easily weighed down. So I don't recommend throwing your sulfate shampoo away; you may need it every once in a while. I realize there have been some accusations on social media concerning DevaCurl products. The only "red" ingredient that the Environmental Working Group identifies for this product is the fragrance and its overall rating is "5" because of that. It doesn't contain methylisothiazolinone, a preservative that I avoid, so I am satisfied. And it does contain protein, which I couldn't find in shampoos with more benign ingredients.Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Coco-Betaine, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Nymphaea Lotus Flower Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Fragrance (Parfum), PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polyquaternium-10, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-7, Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Aminomethyl Propanol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

I'm Impressed!
I am very surprised with this shampoo! It delivers such incredible slip while using, I felt as though I could detangle my hair in the shower using only this alone...and I have damaged ends!!! Waves and curls were popping and clumping. Due to the clumping action, I hated to use my comb but I have too until my ends are cut off. Not only that it does not have an overpowering scent, and it cleans my hair well (wash & repeat).I was using Wen before but start to get a little bit nervous with the hair loss claims. I thought it would help my damaged ends. I like that my hair color lasts with Wen and saw a little stripping of color after shampooing with Delight. However, I did not use a conditioner from this line, I used Trader Joe's which is not marketed for color-treated hair, and Delight is not marketed for color-treated hair, so I kept my star rating at 5.Delight shampoo is formulated perfectly for wavy/curly hair. Scalp is clean. Hair has a light airy feel. From the moment you use it in the shower...you'll know.

Poor packaging design
everytime I purchase it, the cap is not secured and some liquid has seeped out. I return it when it is a significant amount but guaranteed every single time there is a considerable amount of fluid leaked. This stuff aint cheap and how hard is it to figure something out to stop this?

Good for volume
I like this LOW poo because it lathers up, I feel like I am getting my hair really clean, and it helps put some volume back into my curls. What happens though when I use it daily is my hair begins to feel more stiff or dry. I like the NO poo for more moisture. So I am that girl that has both bottles: LOW poo and NO poo, followed by the original Diva Curl conditioner. Alternating between the two shampoos helps keep my curls in balance, thus a 4/5 overall rating.

Too heavy
I have fine, wavy hair and I was under the impression that a low poo delight line was the right option for my hair. Unfortunately this product is way too “heavy” feeling and leaves my washed hair feeling almost greasy in less than a few hours. I certainly want moisturized waves, but this product almost gives a heavy moisture feeling instead of a conditioning moisturized feeling. I’m using it sparingly at the moment as to not let it go to waste. Although I personally don’t have a problem with using Devacurl products, and there are other products that I do enjoy, I will not use this product again. (And for reference, I use a less expensive low poo shampoo- CGM approved- from the drugstore that works way better than this expensive shampoo!).

Great for my fine, thin wavy hair
Love it for my baby fine, thin wavy hair, even after swimming! As does my daughter for her much thicker and stronger wavy hair. I don't always bother with a conditioner afterwards though as I find it doesn't usually need it.
