Great upgrade!!!
I bought this drive to increase the storage available for my movies and TV shows on my media server. My 4TB drive was filling up. I admit that I felt forced to buy a Sandisk drive since I had previously bought drives from Crucial. But their decision to stop commercial sales forced me to try something new. I have to say, the drives are great. I only had one issue with the drive automatically ejecting from my Macbook when it was idle, but after a Google search I downloaded the Sandisk utility and updated the firmware of the drives and so far no further issues. The drives are small and quiet. The performance is great. I went with this model because I saw a review for the new model indicating that the new drive had failed after putting it under a sustained load. So far, no problems like that with this drive. Given the storage I needed and the performance I wanted these drives provided the value I was looking for.

Tiny, Fast, and Perfect for Travel
I canโt believe how small this SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD is! Itโs incredibly compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry in a pocket or laptop bag without taking up any space. The data transfer speeds are excellent. Copying large files is quick, and it has been reliable for backing up photos, videos, and other important files. Itโs a great portable drive if you need fast external storage on the go. The only downside is the priceโit is definitely on the expensive side. That said, youโre paying for a combination of portability, speed, and a generous 2TB of storage. If those features are important to you, itโs a worthwhile investment. Easy to install, just plugin and start using it. I used for my PC laptop

Fast, tiny, and boring in the best way across Mac and Windows
Iโve been using this SanDisk Extreme 2TB portable SSD as a grab-and-go drive across three machines: a MacBook, a Dell XPS, and a desktop. Thatโs the test that matters for me โ not a single-computer cable drawer toy. It stays small enough that I actually carry it, and itโs plug-and-play in practice: connect it and it works. Speed has felt super fast for everyday moves between those machines, which matches what you want from this class of USB-C portable SSD (the Extreme line advertises very high sequential speeds and a ruggedized pocketable design with IP65 water/dust resistance and drop-oriented durability claims). I havenโt had reliability drama on either Mac or Windows. I donโt have a long list of complaints because there havenโt been meaningful ones in my use. If you need a compact 2TB drive that behaves the same on Apple and Windows PCs and doesnโt turn file moves into a waiting game, this is an easy recommend at five stars.

Not For Use With An iPhone 11
This is a review of the SanDisk Portable Extreme 1TB SSD Hard Drive This Solid State Drive (SSD) is really tiny, and very lightweight. Itโs pre-formatted to exFAT, which works with both MAC and Windows. Unfortunately, it DOES NOT WORK WITH the iPhone 11 Pro, which is what I bought it for. I read a bunch of great Amazon reviews, as well as YouTube reviews and videos. The one or two reviews I missed were the oneโs that said this SSD is not compatible with the iPhone 11 Pro. I tried using it in conjunction with an non-Apple lightning to USB 3 camera adapter. When that didnโt work, I purchased an Apple lightning USB 3 camera adapter. The adapter has a built-in lightning cable, to attach it to the iPhone or iPod, and on the back side thereโs a lightning port. This port can be used to connect the adapter to either a DC or portable external power supply. It also has a USB 3 port, that can be used to attach a camera, or other device. Once I connected everything to the iPhone and powered up the external power supply, I received the message, โCannot Use This Accessory Extreme 55AE: This accessory requires too much power,โ and the iPhone would not recognize the SSD. I checked to confirm that it arrived pre-formatted to exFAT, and it had. I ended up chatting with two Apple technicians, and an Apple supervisor. I pointed out that there are a number of videos that demonstrate the โhow toโฆโ use the SanDisk (and other) SSDโs to copy files to and from the iPhone 11 to the SSD. The bottom line was that the Apple Techsโ insist that there is no way to use an external storage device with an iPhone, even by using their Lighting to USB 3 camera adapter. Now, Iโm an old-timer, so thereโs certainly the possibility that Iโm just not sharp enough to figure out where I went wrong. But, what I am sharp enough to figure out is how easy it is to return this beautiful little SanDisk SSD to Amazon for a refund. Love dealing with Amazon, but thatโs another story. Even though I returned this SSD for a refund, Iโm giving it all five stars, because when I connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, it was instantly recognized. Since I purchased this SSD to work with my iPhone, not my laptop, and knowing that I would be returning it, I didnโt try to transfer any files to it. Would I recommend the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD to a friend? Only if my friend didnโt intend to use it to transfer files to or from their iPhone.

very good product.
I love SSDs. Sometimes it logs out without notice, but overall very good.

Do NOT use Sandisk encryption
The SSD sustained data transfer speeds between 350 and 400 MB/s with large files. Once I knew the disk worked and before putting it to use I thought I would give their data encryption a try. Basically it creates a tiny read-only volume with a copy of their encryption software. This could be handy when you need it to access the encrypted data on a different computer. Their software will expose the encrypted volume and mount it provided you enter the correct password. From there is works like any other volume. I used the auto-mount option which eliminates having to keep entering a password when you mount the encrypted volume. It all seemed to work well enough although I was never quite sure how secure the data actually was. I expect it was encrypting the filesโ content but left the directories and filenames exposed. Next I tried to disable the auto mount feature. Everything I tried failed and the volume continued to auto-mount. I reached out to SanDisk support who were friendly enough but their suggestions were just not working. The documentation they provided for how to reconfigure was not matching with what their software was doing. After spending over a month I got tired of playing โtry thisโ and just asked them how to restore the device back to its initial pre-encrypted condition. They discouraged this and made a point of explaining it would result in the loss of all the data. I was only testing their encryption and didnโt care about losing the test data. Again, their instructions were not matching the software. For example they mentioned that entering the incorrect password 5 times in a row will bring up additional dialog options. It did not. (You need to enter the password to reconfigure the encrypted SSD and apparently to disable encryption altogether.) Eventually I got tired of going around and around and gave the Windows disk tools a try. It is still basically a disk so I should be able to reset it at the device level. Oddly I couldnโt get any of the windows tools (like disk management tool or diskpart) to remove the read-only partition. I was able to get the rest of the disk to reset and ended up with a two volume drive (although the reset volume might still have been encrypted). I tried how to articles from the internet with no success. Finally I gave up wasting time and asked SanDisk replace my drive. SanDisk wouldnโt take the drive back but eventually agreed to exchange it for a previously used and refurbished one. The exchange took nearly 2 months. Keep this in mind if you need to use their warrantee. Two months was plenty of time to research other encryption options. I chose VeraCrypt because it was the most flexible, supports multiple platforms, has thorough encryption, and was free thanks to the open source community. The setup was easy and worked exactly as advertised. I liked it so much I decided to keep using it. Also the encrypted volume exists as a file on SSD which can be deleted (like any file) when you decide you no longer need it.

Excellent storage
I got this to hold my music library for my home server. I have been using it for about a month now and I liked it enough that I bought a second one. Transfers move quickly enough that loading the library over was not something I had to sit and wait on. It stays connected without dropping or needing to be reseated. The drive is small enough to sit next to the server without taking up any real space and it doesn't get warm to the touch. The rubberized body feels solid and the carabiner loop is there if you want to clip it to something, though mine just stays put. I didn't bother with the included software. Both of them have been running without a hiccup and I have no complaints.

Reliable, Easy to install and use, Quiet, Good Value for your money
An admitted computer geek, I have 14 external Solid State Drives ranging in capacity from 1 TB to 8 TB, with speeds of 1k and 2k. Most capacities are 4 TB. Iโve found this specific Sandisk model (in any size and speed specification) to be the fastest and most reliable for my Dell XPS laptop with Thunderbolt 3 compared to competing products with similar specifications, (with the one exception being the Samsung T9, which is a fine unit with roughly the same performance as a Sandisk. I have two Samsung T9s. Do NOT confuse it with the T7, which provides significantly inferior performance.) The Sandisk units are quiet, easy to install, and may get warm with heavy use, but never hot if sufficiently ventilated. I confess I like the faster speeds of the 2k units over the 1k, but the maximum usable speed difference with my equipment is an increase of about 40% when transferring data between two drives with 2k speeds plugged into their own Thunderbolt 3 ports. I donโt achieve twice the speed. Unless Iโm backing up several TBs of data, the speed difference is not significant in my productivity. If purchasing a 4TB SSD Iโd still purchase the 2k speed due to the minimal price difference. When the 8TB drives become reasonably priced at 2k Iโll likely buy one or two. For now, however, Iโm surprisingly satisfied with the speed of my two 1K 8TB drives. Over the last few months, the price has dropped by 40%-50%, so I took the plunge and was delighted with the performance. Plugging fewer units into my computer (or docking station) helps avoid a variety of issues and allows the computer to run a little faster overall. The 8TB 1k drives are, in my actual use, about 25% faster than the 2TB or 4TB 1K drives. I have only guesses, but no confirmed explanations that clarify the reason for the increased usable speed of the 8TB drives over the 2TB or 4TB 1k drives. I reformat my drives to NTFS, which I think is superior to EXFAT if used exclusively on a Windows computer. I have tried both formats and have not noticed a difference in read or write speeds. My preference for the NTFS is the extra information and other things that can be done with files in that format. The price of Solid State Drives tends to move frequently, and often for only a day or two at a time โ and sometimes for only a few hours. I keep the drives and other items that interest me in my โSave for Laterโ section with Amazon. If youโre unfamiliar with that, you can easily get there by going to your CART (even if itโs empty) and selecting โSaved for laterโ just below the cart. I check the items Iโm interested in purchasing daily and nearly always find a time (or an event) where the price is notably discounted. However, I offer one piece of advice if you embrace this form of price monitoring: when the item reaches a price point youโve pre-determined is acceptable, BUY IT without delay. Waiting a day (or sometimes even hours) can result in the price returning to its pre-sale level.

Excellent, worth buying, you will not regret it
I am very late in writing the review, as I have been using it for more than three years and it works smoothly and excellently.

Scan Disk SSD 1TB
Very cool delivery, on time, very happy with the SSD drive, it is a little more expensive than the usual one, but since my previous hard drive failed and I lost all my data irrevocably, it is better to get a reliable drive, although the price is higher for the sake of reliability and quality.
