I’ve used this bag for a few trips now and it’s been perfect for a couple of nights working away and room for my laptop and iPad.There is a lower strap that should go around your waste which I’ve never used so it just dangles down from the bag but no major drama.

I bought this to take on a trip. This backpack saved me while traveling across the U.S., and also to Germany, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Belgium...it survived extortion in an airport, numerous security tear downs and going from a snowstorm to extreme near-equator level heat in less than a day without so much as a thread breaking or a flap coming loose - and that was just January. Next to my Keene boots, this backpack saved me on three different continents. Granted it hasn’t gone through an actual fire or explosion yet, but its still a good backpack. It has numerous packing spaces, and if you keep the back zipped (carry it as a satchel), you can fit even more in the back. The straps will tighten down enough so that you can make this a carry-on bag no matter what is crammed into it. You could buy some pretty little apathetic pack and take your chances, or you can be an adult and buy a real backpack that protects your stuff so you can worry about more important things.

First let me say I haven’t traveled with this bag yet, I’m leaving next week and I’ll update this review then.As for now, looking at the bag it appears well made, the straps are comfortable and the zippers and snaps function smoothly. The only real negative I have about it is the side zip for the main compartment. I didn’t really notice this when I was purchasing the bag and the flap on the front gives the impression that you can get in from the top, however I believe this bag was mainly situated for side carry as the pen and accessory pockets inside the main compartment are facing the side of the bag with no straps to hold items in place.I’m going to keep the bag and see how it goes, overall I’m happy with it, just wish the side zipper went all the way around.

Love this bag. My 17" ROG laptop got in the bag and I had room on the side to put the charger and other junk. Love the canvas material and looks so awesome. I had packed clothes for three days, my toiletries, cologne, etc with my surface 4 and still had so much room. I do wish the front big pocket had bigger entry way so I could put my surface and pack my ROG inside. Feels very durable and excellent craftsmanship. I will update if anything changes.

Maybe I just travel differently for the other reviewers, but every time I travel with this thing, I'm ready to pull my hair out within the first day. The dumb "load through the side" main compartment, combined with the "load through the top" other compartments, means that at any given *something* is going to be 90 degrees off it's normal orientation. So what do you do with a bottle of perfume. Or water? Not that there's a place for a bottle of water.You have to pack the main compartment through a zipper on one side that is shorter than the compartment is long. Ever tried to stuff an envelope with the flap stuck partly closed? Yeah, it's like that. Try keeping everything organized.And the outer pockets seem to have been designed just for show. Only one doesn't use space from the main compartment. If the main compartment is full, these aren't useable. The one truly outside pocket is too small for the usual random selection of phones, earbuds, external batteries, charging bases, wires, medications, etc. that go with long periods of transit time.Dumb, dumb, DUMB design.
