Murder Mystery Party Games - A Murder on the Grill, Host Your Own Cookout Murder Mystery Dinner for 8 Adult Players, Solve the Case with Crime Scene Clues, 18 Years and Up

This was a very fun game! We played it with our adult children and parents over Mother’s Day and had a blast. Everyone got into character even those that normally wouldn’t which was fun. This is a one time play game. Once everyone knows the killer you cannot play it again unless you buy another version of their game as the killer does not change. They did give recipes in the game which was a nice touch. We will be buying others for friend and family get togethers. Definitely worth the money for a fun filled day with family.

The game was fun. The 50s theme made for some fun costumes. The bbq sauce in the recipe book was amazing. We made the carrot salad and cucumber salad which were fine, but I recommend halving what the recipe calls for. We also did root beer floats which were a huge hit. We only played with 6 people, but afterwards read through the other 2 characters and it would have been very fun and entertaining to have those extra characters! The plot was interesting enough. The end has quite a plot twist which is interesting, yet I found a little disappointing. The cd's anchor is very peppy and makes it easier to get into the game.

Make sure your party has good characters! The overall story here was a bit boring and there are at least 2 characters that have little to nothing to do with the story. Otherwise, if you have good sports playing, it is a great time.

Many thanks to the many helpful reviews on here. They all said it; I'll just add some notes: The recipes were delicious. I'm not much of a lamb guy, so I substituted baby back ribs, still using the rub and homemade sauce the recipe called for, and it was WONDERFUL! I took others' advice and only invited 2 other couples, and looking at the non-suspect character books, I can see how those guests would have been seriously disappointed, but for 6 people, it was perfect. Some are complaining about the ending - we LOVED it, and though none of us got the correct suspect for the correct reason, it was there in the clues all along. Just pay attention to the seemingly minor details and you can nail it. Super fun, and we're doing Pasta Passion and Pistols this weekend!

This is the first mystery dinner game we have ever hosted. We enjoyed it and laughed the entire evening. All of our guests dressed up and really got into their characters. We took cues from the dinner menu and fixed things we liked! We hosted in the winter and could not do a traditional BBQ, but enjoyed the cuisine indoors! The story line was creative and funny, never a dull moment! We used all 8 characters, but can be easily done with 6. This game was easy to follow and a sure hit for a party! We will purchase something like this again in the future.

My supper club did this last night for our monthly gathering. My husband and I were the host home. 4 couples for a total of 8 people and it was SO MUCH FUN! I highly recommend it. All but one of us dressed up, but even without dressing up it would've been lots of fun. Took us just about 2 hours w dinner, drinks, dessert to act out the whole thing. Even those who were not "into" it at first for into acting out the script! Directions are very clear on how to play. The only part that a few struggled with was some directions were worded in third person but then the character had to act it in first person...but out of 8 of us only 2 or 3 thought this was a struggle and once they "got it" we're fine. :-)

My husband and I hosted 3 couples and had so much fun playing this game! We all made an effort at dressing the part, although no one followed the costume suggestions to the tee - but the effort really paid off. It took us just under 3 hours to complete it, with breaks for checking/serving/cleaning up the food. It was easy to play, easy to follow, and was about as much fun as you made it. Everyone really tried to have fun and play up the characters and everyone laughed and had a great time. We would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a murder mystery game!

This was the first murder mystery party I have hosted (or attended). The party was a hit, everyone liked dressing up, the decor, the themed food, and dancing to the music. My guests of honor had wanted a murder mystery party and after researching various reviews, this collection was the best ranked and I liked the 50's theme. When the kit arrived I was disappointed. There is far too much packaging. The materials in the kit could easily fit in a slimmer package to save resources and postage. I was disappointed in the styling of the invitations and name cards. I did appreciate the party planning directions and menu ideas. I ended up crafting my own invitations for more pop and wow. The CD was corny but fun, we loved the pop culture references. The story itself was fun and the guest really got into the scripts. I think I had already read on here that there are only 6 speaking parts and if you are not one of those 6 then it is not very engaging. I second that. I was the 7th and it worked well for me because I played waitress while the game went on. Even so, with our group, I found it hard to interject much because the scripted players embellished off their cues. I am an outgoing person and some guests were concerned about me and did not understand why I was not going head to head ("Are you ok? Why so quiet?"). I think if I did it again I would try to write my own script ahead of time or a little script for any guests beyound the 6 parts. If you have guests who are shy or just enjoy taking in the drama, then they would be ok with no part. My husband felt the game was too scripted, "on rails", he thinks it would be nice if there were alternate twists to allow for multiple uses or to let the guests take the wheel more. We will probably gift, donate or resell this set because we would not use it again now knowing the outcome.

Oh my goodness we had so much fun playing this. My friends aren’t the brightest but we figured it out without any mistakes. The actual storyline was so great we all loved it so much, we played with 6 people and didn’t use the extra players and it was fine. I definitely recommend this game! It was so fun and I’ll be looking to buy again!

The item was extremely well-packed and in mint condition, just as described. The box is complete with all the instructions. I'm looking forward to hosting this murder mystery party.

Great evening with family playing this game. It is a bit text heavy so it would be hard for younger kids. They can participate by creating their own character and try to figure out who the murder is.

Loved the game, because our group had never done one of these before it took a little longer. Very clear on instructions and attire. Gives you meal prep examples and recipes. Over all well done

We've played this twice now and our guests had a great time. The game instructions were easy to follow and it included a nice meal plan. After we have played it a few more times we will trade it with a friend which keeps the fun going.
