For the most part, it's for a mid-level of sewing ability. The pattern itself has some wonkiness to it -- the way the collar is set up is very strange. I'm an advanced sewer and I had difficulty with it. Also, the way they had you sew the sleeves was very weird (I did it an easier way just because I knew how to do it.) If I had the opportunity to use a different pattern I would. This was not a good pattern.

How many yards of fabric in a XL men’s shirt

I make my husbands a little longer and I usually get 4 yards.

Cutting the yoke and collar in the same direction of the graphic is ideal. To stabilize the yoke and collar, interfacing will work.

What chest sizes should i use, according to the envelope the xl is 46 - 48 but on the pattern it says the xl is 56 inches. which is correct?

If the man’s chest measurement is between 46-48 use the XL pattern. The finished garment for XL measures 56 giving room in the garment. If you need more room, (man’s chest is larger than 48) you’ll have to cut it larger.
