Q: The top on mine is difficult to open and makes a scraping noise - does anyone else have this issue? Deciding whether to return it. Thanks!

The dome should open easily with no scraping noise. Q: How does salt go stale?

I use it for keeping my stamp shammy wet and it works great for this purpose. It keeps it from drying out.

Q: My cover will not stay closed. Anyone have this problem and fixed it??

I bought mine as an out of box item so I figured it was specific to my item alone. But, YES, mine would NOT stay closed. I was using it for craft purposes, not for cooking, so I took a piece of a cardboard box and traced the outline of the bottom of the cellar onto it. I cut that out with scissors and then cut that circle in half. I glued both halves to the side opposite the opening. This tips the balance towards the front/open edge, keeping the lid shut...for the most part. I hope that explanation helps. I would have returned mine if I had known that it was a product defect and not a damaged item.

Good purchase

I use this too keep my shammy damp during crating sessions . I had seen them used for this purpose in various craft demos and they were recommended by the demonstrators .. However I don't think they are available anymore , as I wanted to get one for a friend and cannot find them ...

Plastic, really! Rip off!

Over $32.00 for a tiny plastic bowl, what a rip off! I thought it was overpriced if it were ceramic which it looked like it was, and that’s what I searched for, but plastic, really!Amazon stop suggesting other materials other than what I write and want!Very disappointed! Nice design, that’s all!
