Learn how to understand the skies with this comprehensive cornerstone guide to cloudspotting. Clouds have been the object of fascination throughout history, their fleeting magnificence and endless variability providing food for thought for scientists and daydreamers alike. Clouds may have many individual shapes, but there are a few basic forms. In this definitive guide to the clouds and the skies, Richard Hamblyn introduces you to all the different cloud species. The Met Office Cloud Book will enable you to identify individual clouds, skies and phenomena. You will also be able to track their likely changes over time and predict the implications they have for the weather you may experience. Produced in association with the Met Office โ the worldโs premier weather forecasting bureau โ all things to do with the origin and development of a cloud are here. Whether you are looking at a giant cumulonimbus or a tiny shred of stratus factus, an everyday occurrence or a fleeting rarity, your cloudspotting will be expertly informed and much more satisfying with this handy reference guide. This book will enable you to not only identify individual clouds and skies as they might appear at any given moment, but also to track their likely changes over time, and thus predict weather patterns. This new edition brings this classic and bestselling book completely up to date, including 12 new cloud types only recently officially recognised by the World Meteorological Organization. Many of these previously only had informal names, but their new Latin classification brings them into the fold of officially adopted global meteorological terms. It also includes a new foreword from the Met Office's Chief Meteorologist and an updated section on climate change and the role that clouds might play in shaping future conditions on Earth. The Met Office Cloud Book includes a detailed introduction on the history of cloud classification and is illustrated with stunning images from around the globe. Take it with you on walks and have it handy in the garden so that you can enjoy sky-gazing every day. This is the only guide to cloud classification that you will ever need. Review: Lovely books - I bought a set of three assorted cloud books. Great illustrations and extremely informative. A must buy if you are interested in clouds, their formations and how and why they form. Review: A good purchace - I have this wonderful book and have bought it as a Christmas present for someone who walks daily and takes pictures and usually comments on the clouds. This book I thought would give them more insight into what they are about

Weird size!
Er, not as good as I hoped mainly because of its daft size. Yes I should have checked but at 10" long x 6.5" its quite difficult to use. The content of course is brilliant as are the photos (apart from the 'climate change' bit which comes to no conclusion at all but fits the obligatory narrative where every discussion about anything and everything needs to reference it) Bring back 'The Observer book of clouds' which you could actually carry around with you.

Excellent book on clouds
I bought this for my wife and she is thrilled to bits with it. Very informative with a lot of clouds she has to see yet although lately there has been a lot of different clouds to look up and name.

The Best
Bought for my husband who spends most of his time sailing. He often returns with descriptions of, to him, odd cloud formations. This book seems to fit the bill. Clear coloured photographs with descriptions. It should be perfect.

Beautiful Cloud Photos
The photographs are beautiful and clear but the text is very small and in a grey font making it difficult to read.

Quick shipping, Decent value.
Interested in clouds and what to expect weather wise and beauty wise with different cloud formations. I like finding out about clouds that I take photos of, to learn more about them. itโs not quite as thorough as I would have preferred, but it covers a little more than just the basics.

Not great condition
It was a birthday present. I was disappointed that as a paperback book it was rather bent

So you want to be a weather guy!?!
I purchased this for a gifted first grader, but it ended up being too technical. Great for a cloud enthusiast or a budding meteorologist!
