Heater Repair Kit Blend Door Dual Zone Climate Control fits: 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is made very well. Doubt I will have an issue with the blend doors again unless my actuator motor goes bad. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Worked great, easy to install. Now I have heat again. One thing to note: Put anti sieze compound on the tab and hole where the doors hinge on each other! A few months after I installed this I had no heat one morning. I ran the calibration procedure and had codes for the blend doors again. WTH? I took it back apart and pulled out the blend doors. The hinge (aluminum tab and hole) where the two doors rotate was frozen solid. I had a hard time getting the doors apart from each other. I'm not sure why, but there was serious galling on the little tab on the outer door that fits into the hole on the end of the inner door. I cleaned it up a bit and applied some anti sieze compound to the tab and hole to lubricate it. Working good again now.

Read the replacement steps once or twice on their site and you'll be fine. The only time consuming part of doing this job is cutting into the plastic. I chose to use a hot knife with a power converter to make the cut since I live in an apartment and do not have an outlet near. The job took me about an hour. At the time I bought this, Amazon had the lowest price for this JGCParts blend door. It was cheaper on here than their competitors site and even on JGCParts site. The doors are well made and will outlast the car itself. The best part is, if the doors do ever fail, everything is already cut out for easy replacement. My picture is everything it comes with. The aluminum tape applies very easily.

If you know… you know..these are a pain in the buns to install, but i did “thru the dashboard” setup and used a hotknife to cut. no shredded pieces of plastic blowing everywhere inside the vents or stinking up the heater core from a dremel. The two doors are separated by a plastic fin inside the airbox to keep the temps separate, but that barely works anyway so i removed it to make installing the inner door easier. i did have to widen the hole to fit the closest new blend door post/peg. I recommend using some grease on the middle hinge/connection point so the doors can turn independently. Dont forget to pull the fuse to calibrate the AZC. make sure it all works before you button it all back up. I used foil/thermal tape for that. So happy to have both dual zone working in my 25 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, so cool!!

Shipping was good, quality is ok. Overall these are pretty solid, and not to tough to put in. The quality control of their milling could be better, the connecting point between the two pieces was slightly messed up, but still functional. FYI, these may or may not fix the dual climate control function/problem that Jeep Grand Cherokee's have. My original OEM blend doors were fine, the foam was coming off, but structurally they were ok. My problem is the blend door actuators. The female drive end of the actuator motor is plastic and cracks, thus expanding and not driving the door axle, but slipping around it, which is why many people hear the clicking noise. I was able to use a small hose clamp on the drivers side actuator motor drive end to keep the plastic drive cup from slipping around the axle. Now the passenger side is doing the same thing but the actuator motor is inaccessible because it is behind the ducting, and the only way to get to it is by pulling the dash.... In the mean while, I just used a screw inside the ducting to hold the pax side blend door in the up (heat only) position.

These came quickly. They are well made. Go to the manufacturer's web site to get installation instructions. I used a hot electric knife rather than a dremel to cut out the plastic. I'm glad I did since you are very close to the heater core. The website also has instructions on recalibrating the motors, which is necessary. It took me a few times to get the motors lined up with the doors. The install took me longer since the hot knife was slow going in the cutting department. But iin the end, they work and will have heat this winter. Jeep dealer wanted $1,400 plus to repair the blend doors. This cost less than $100. Update: The blend doors have been working great and not a big difference in being able to control the temperature on the passenger and driver's side. I still think the hot knife is the way to go because the heater core is very close to where you have to cut and you don't want a fast-spinning bit getting next to that.

Just finished installing them so far so good I got heat and a/c two things I didn't have before and the instructions are pretty easy to follow and they fit right into place after cutting to get to them, and the aluminum feels to be good quality and definitely more durable than the old plastic ones!

Good quality. But honestly. If you need this and you found it. God bless bro. Cause the job you are about to take is a long road of pain. I installed this years ago. Thought sweet problem soved. Until because of the good quality and strong materials of this new door the back motor stripped itself out inside this guy. Leaving me to yet again rip open this problem child and fix for the third time.
