Dark and Depraved
The Dominater is the first book in the dark mafia Dominater series. It's best if the books are read in order to get the benefit of the full detailed stories. The MMC has demons he's dealing with and this causes him to be a sadist. FMC is 10 years younger and tries to stand up for herself but he breaks her emotionally and she wants to keep the peace. This story is a longer tale and we get detailed information with a few editing errors. Told in alternating POVs with no cliffhanger and has a HFN.Trigger Warning: Non and dubious consent sex, blood, profanity, rough sex, kidnapping, murder, drugs and sex trafficking.Tia O’Connor is 19 and graduating high school and has plans to be independent from her foster parents, go to college and become a social worker. Her father tells her she needs to go with the men who has surrounded them. She's payment for a gambling debt that he owes to Tom Ferrano, Mafia Don. Tia then finds out that she is to become the sons wife, her dreamy ice cream customer.Tommy Ferrano is 29 and thoughts of a girlfriend or a wife has never entered his mind. He likes complete control and joined a club to get his kink on. Besides control, he likes mind games that create fear then submission. Tommy sees Tia and will have her... obey his rules… or else. He owns her, has full control over her at all times or he will punish her defiance. Keep her lips zipped and reveal nothing of him or the family. And soon she will be on the receiving end of his dark, sex depraved side. Will she stay strong or break?Tommy will need to marry Tia for his father to retire and for him to take control of the business. He's worked hard for that position and has plans to make it more legal. Getting to know Tia changes something in Tommy and the more he's around her the more he worries what his father is hiding and the reason why he picked Tia.

An okay read with a few problems
I'd rate this 2.5 stars. I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either. The story is a dark-style romance with themes of dominance, possessiveness and questionable consent which seems to be all the rave at the moment and selling like hotcakes with a plethora of authors going down this path which is why I'm assuming this author has followed along. The book is completely over the top. Considering it attempts to be a mafia-type book with a sexually dominant male who has insta-love for the female lead, this wasn't a surprise, but it had me rolling my eyes and took the shine off the plot quite a lot.Tia is a pretty innocent young miss who's about to graduate. Her mother committed suicide when she was younger and her father was a gambling degenerate who was mostly happy for Tia to be raised in the foster care system. She was lucky enough to get raised by a family who genuinely cared for her, though why this was mentioned a few times I don't know, because the family had next to nothing to do with her once Tommy entered the scene, making her former life obsolete and like a careless add-in to the story. Unbeknownst to her, Tommy is 'gifted' Tia by his father to do whatever he wants with her after her own father racked up a small gambling debt. There's something fishy going on that Tommy and Tia can't put their finger on, but he's instantly attracted to Tia and decides she'll be his forever and his father is super happy about this arrangement. This comes up often throughout the book and is a part of the overall plot which honestly wasn't that captivating. The story itself is written in first person which can be difficult to do and risks the writing sounding as though it's been constructed out of simple sentences and repetition. The style of the monologue was pretty clunky and made Tia sound very juvenile, so this wasn't a big plus for me. The constant addition of exclamations marks didn't help this. I get that Tia was young, but she ended up sounding naive and immature and some of the language choices that accompanied her just accentuated this. For example, unbeknownst to Tia, she had met Tommy previously in the ice cream store she worked at. She constantly made reference to wanting Tommy to be like the catch she'd imagined at the shop and not the dominant, hurtful guy she encountered. A line from Tia in the book: "...I really, really wanted my mom. Mom wouldn't have let Dad sell me to the mafia..." Geez. There was also quite a lot of crying from Tia throughout the book. It became annoying. The beginning bordered on ridiculous. Tia graduated and was immediately picked up by Tommy's people who took her to his house where she stayed from that point on. Riiighto. No red flags there. The rest of the book is Tia adjusting to life with Tommy and his personality quirks and need for control and hard s$x, making the book somewhat sound like an attempt at BDSM. The story is told from both main characters' point of view with it switching between Tia and Tommy throughout the chapters. There's a bit of mystery as something with Tia's mum and Tommy's father doesn't quite add up.While the plot was entertaining at times even though unbelievable, the male lead is what let the book down for me. He was made to be so extremely dominant that he mostly became unlikable for me. I didn't find him alpha or dominant, but condescending and a bit of a jerk. The author dances around the issue of consent for most of the intimate scenes by having Tia enjoy the s$x. There is one scene in the book where it's flat out abuse, but Tia gets over it, content to stay with Tommy as she rationalises that she needs to take him as he is. I'll be honest, I was pretty much done with the book here, not because of the darker theme but because Tia's ability to forgive him and make excuses was ridiculous and had me pulling my hair out. This is yet another romance where the dark hero needs to be saved. Blech. There was also a lot of Tommy making Tia feel so good in bed that the control was okay. Here's a line from Tommy: "...I wanted her afraid, too, and eventually I wanted her to want to please me, to do whatever I wanted, even if was out of her comfort zone, because she wanted to please me that badly. I wanted her so badly that she ached for me, ached to submit to me. A lot of girls want to be submissive." The typo there isn't mine, by the way. This, to me, was the book in the nutshell and made Tommy unlikable for the most part even though he could be sweet occasionally. He liked Tia afraid. What a catch.Speaking of mistakes, there were quite a lot of typos as well. They were clumsy errors like missing punctuation, punctuation in the wrong spot or missing letters and words. The themes in the book were repeated a lot. Tommy tries to control Tia, Tia gets upset but then gets over it because he's so good looking and dynamite in bed, she then craves his depravity, something is dangled in there about one of their parents, Tommy messes up by being dominant, Tia is hurt and hates him but then rationalises the behaviour and gets over it. Repeat. Some of the themes with their relationship were inconsistent as well. Tommy essentially r$pes her as well as assaults Tia and she's worried about him wearing some necklace of his mother's because apparently that's the only time he can behave appropriately. And after that event, Tia forgives him quickly. To me, that's not romance but an abusive relationship. It's a dark romance so it comes with the territory, but I'm still going to mention it as it was ridiculous, especially when Tia then tells Tommy how grateful she is that he loves her. Again, blech. She was okay with this because giving in to Tommy gave her freedom - lololol. This was followed up with her saying that she just had to try and keep him sweet and make the rough s$x into a game and try not to let it get out of control - yeah, like it was her fault and he did nothing wrong.I gave it two and a half stars because it was free and a really decent length (although it dragged out by the end). While I didn't mind the premise and some of the twists that took place and there was some good suspense, the two main characters and overarching 'mystery' that made up the book were pretty ordinary and made if difficult for me to rate the book any higher. While Tommy was dominating, he was also a selfish abuser who groomed Tia through a cycle of being horrid and then apologising.

Dark and exciting read
Tommy Ferrano is about as grey as an hero can get. He’s a violent, single-minded mob heir. So when young, innocent Tia O’Connor is gifted to him, to pay for her father’s debts, Tommy doesn’t stop himself from taking what he wants. He wants control, he craves her submission, he’s demanding and seemingly without conscience.Oh boy - there were some tough moments in this story where I feared Tommy had crossed a line, even he couldn’t return from. But Tia’s resilience and those mere glimpses of Tommy’s gentler side made it so worthwhile. Great read, with a gripping storyline. I’m looking forward to starting Dare’s book.

I have read a different version of this book and someone (not sure which one) should be done for PLAGIARISM!!!!!!!!!
I looked forward to reading this book but when I started it I realised that I had read something very similar before but what I do not know is where. I do know it was not by the same author so I am not sure who stole who's story but this one starts with a graduate and the other with a graduate who gets her dream job in fashion! Both books have a father who owes a debt and the daughter is the payment and both books have a Mafia father who gifts the Graduate to his son!!! One walks out of a library into a car after getting a call from her father asking he to do him a favour and just go with them and the other is taken by her father to a coffee shop and is handed over to the mafia. Both girls end up in a cell and that is where I gave in with this book!I know I did not pay for this book but for someone to just pull the same plot out of another book and change it slightly (names mainly) I am sure is called plagiarism!!!!!!! I am not sure which book came first and I am unable to remember the name of the 1st book but please believe me they are the same book!!!!!!I for one stopped reading quite quickly, I am not saying it is a bad book but if you start the book and realise that the story is every similar to another one you will not be wrong

Rollercoaster of a book!
This is my first book by DD Prince. Although it doesn't hugely detract from the story, it could use another round with a proofreader.⚠️ This is a dark mafia romance that contains: dub-con, non-con, murder, kidnapping, betrayal, revenge and more. If you have triggers, don't enjoy reading these themes or have issues with anything in the warning, please don't read.I thought this book was very good. I was fully engaged from the first page to the last. There's so much going on, you can barely catch your breath before being at the edge of your seat for the next thing. I loved the relationship between the characters - how Tommy was protective and caring from the start - even if he didn't always go about it in the right way!If you're a fan of 'Untouchable' by Sam Mariano, you'll enjoy this one. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author!

I couldn't put it down!!
It's been a long time since a book has really kept me up all night...but that's exactly what happened when I started this. I just could not put it down!!I loved Tommy so much, I think he has become a firm favourite for me, so dominant, self assured and controlling, but when he wanted to be he was the complete opposite....sweet, tender and loving....the perfect guy!!The whole story was just genius, I loved the pace of the book as well, it wasn't rushed and had just the right amount of angst, tension, suspense and steamy sex scenes...I just loved it.This is one of those books you won't forget in a while and I can't wait to read more from this author!!
