Practical contemporary comments on the Bhagavad Gita
Gary Weber's work has taken away many of my doubts as a meditator and replaced them with strong confidence to persist with self-inquiry.Subject in numerous scientific studies, Gary is the living proof that it's humanly possible to be permanently without troublesome thoughts and remain fully functional.Who could be better placed to write contemporary practical comments to the Bhagavad Gita?"[...] Gary Weber. We have scanned him in the FMRI work we are doing at Yale and he lives in the present more than anyone else we have yet scanned (we have scanned 100 or so experienced meditators)"- Jeffrey Walker"Enlightenment for me is what Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta, Patanjali's yoga sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Tao Te Ching defined, which is to have no thoughts."- Gary Weber

Great little book. Very useful and full of extra concise information, in the second half, for those looking to use the Bhagavad Gita to attain Liberation and Unity.

Neuro-coordinates and original and useful techniques!!!
Don't usually do reviews. Love all three of Gary's books. I have also watched his videos on YouTube. He offers useful practices and ties them in with neuroscience. Am studying his books and memorizing the Sanskrit verses in "Happiness Beyond Thought" -- 32 of them, hopefully one per day. (Hard to do on days I am having a migraine!) Plan to journal on this. He has a video for chanting "Asatoma Sadgamaya". Have been doing that also!

Wonderful read....
and has great depth and personal feel to it. Still engaged in a second more profound read through and will probably read it third time during my vacation this summer.

The power of chanting could not have been predicted
I was lucky enough to have received an advanced copy of Gary's book some time ago and am well in progress learning to chant the 60 Bhagavad Gita verses. I just received my paperback copy of the book two days ago and read through it all. I am delighted at the format, very well done. The accompanying video of Gary chanting these verses on YouTube (search "Gary Weber Bhagavad Gita") is obviously super helpful in learning to chant these verses. The subtitles with the Sanskrit text & translation is perfect.I mentioned in my review of his book Happiness Beyond Thought that I never could have predicted or imagined I would have any desire to chant Sanskrit ("I" was a die hard rocker). Gary once remarked to me that chanting in my head "is better than the alternative" - the alternative being the usual chaotic array of disjointed thought patterns. This comment sunk in, and, as Richard Doyle so eloquently writes in the foreword of the book, I shut up and chant. Ideas and beliefs and old patterns really do just drop away... I cannot explain this. There is power in chanting, and it seems to be not about the chanting at all.During most of my daily walks with the dog I have a written paper with the verses I am learning with me, and chant them over and over. During work breaks, morning coffee, shower, etc. Mostly in my head, and sometimes out loud to get the feel of the sounds. Once a new verse is gelling in memory I chant everything from the beginning to tie it all together. Then I go to YouTube and listen to be sure the pronunciation is at least close :)Happy to see the chapter "Letting go of the "I" and its stories". I found it was meaningless until I actually sat down, took a deep breath did the exercises. This chapter is worth repeating. Huge thanks and gratitude to Gary.
