This is a thick, good quality, consistent, linen-like thread (and plenty of it for such a low price!) with an ample coating of wax, which made for smooth and easy sewing. I now realize this thread is intended for sewing leather (i.e., not necessarily for bookbinding), which may account for its slightly greasy feel. Happily, after a month, I have not detected any residue on my pages, so it might be unfair to take off one star for that issue. I just want to use something else for my next book project. I attach a photo of my first-timer binding so you can see how the thread held up after considerable handling. I had to undo and redo my work twice. (Please don't judge my clumsy perforations!) I think it performed very well. I am surprised it looks as clean and neat as it was while on its spool.

I am a mixed media artist and art book maker who loves this waxed thread. It is strong, glides well through a variety of materials and ties tightly. I have used it on papers of widely varying weights, leather, book board and fabric. Every application has gone smoothly with no breaking, peeling or knotting.
