Review: The Queen of the Skys, they maybe from Skys today, put this book bring them back, partly history over fifty years, with plenty of photographs, this book is very good for the collectors too. Review: This book has good quality paper like the previous book on the VC10 by the same author in the same series. A few photos are common to Long Haul/ Giant Airliners/ Heavies by the same author, Lance Cole. However the depiction of the 747 cockpit is not satisfactory. The sepia photo at the foot of pp 6 leaves much to be desired. It should have been larger and in color with a separate photo for the flight engineer's panel. The several hacksawn photos of the 747 are not appreciated. There are some 40 of them in the 84 pp book which is not a good proportion. I don't understand why the author persistently refers to the 747-8 as the 747 - 800 when Boeing itself has never used this designation. The 24 ' specially commissioned illustrations' could well have been color photos with a bit of extra photo research. I had mentioned this in my review of the Flight Craft VC10 book in 2020. And thence to the 27pp B747 scale model section which I found completely absorbing. It was unfortunate about the typo at the top of each page of the model section but then these things do happen despite the best efforts of those who struggle to get the book spot on. It was interesting to note that KLM blue is not the same as Korean Air blue though the two look very similar. So the author is a pleased owner of a £100 ARD 200 B747 model. I envy him. His concentration on the passenger variant of the 747 is appreciated. I had forgotten about Lance's artistic capabilities (as in his Flight Craft VC10 book) till I came to the last image of the 747 which I had initially mistaken for a photograph. It is that good. The book gets 4 stars on account of the hacksawn photographs. I look forward to the next Flight Craft book which should be on the Boeing 707.
