Travel Backpack for Men Large Convertible Duffel Bag Fits 16 Inch

My husband and I took these to Italy as carryon luggage. We traveled everywhere by train and they held up excellently. Lots of room, lots of pockets, easy to manage, even for me. After a month of travel, they still look brand new. Highly recommend.

Received this as a gift because I was looking for a weekend duffel/backpack style bag and it has been awesome. Heavy duty zippers and tons of space (I have the 21" in brown). I can get a pair of shoes and enough clothes for 4 days in there as well as a toiletries bag. The backpack straps can be zipped up behind a flap to give a smoother look to the bag when using the shoulder strap. Additionally, you can take the shoulder strap off and use this as a larger laptop type bag as well. The brown and brown looks great, traps are all easy to use and well stitched, and you can carry/wear it a bunch of different ways giving this bag a lot of versatility. It can cram under an airplane seat nearly as easily as you can bike across town. Very durable so far.

This backpack is great. It’s a good size for a weekend or short trip, similar to the size of a small carry-on. On a flight you can fit it in the overhead compartment or under your seat pretty comfortably. Since you can fit it under your seat, it’s still considered a backpack rather than a carry-on luggage. The material is great, but the backpack and duffel bag straps could be more thick and sturdy. I ended up getting a new duffel bag strap for this bag. I’ve had this backpack for over three years and it’s been on many trips with me, it’s still going strong without any problems. People regularly ask where I got it too.

This bag is the close but it doesn't quite meet my needs. First, I love the handles everywhere! That is profoundly useful when you're hopping from planes, to taxis, to trains. You can grip this thing from any angle and get it moved to wherever. I love how durable this thing is. I love that it is attractive without being flashy. I dont want bright colors and fancy materials. I dont want a bag that says, "look at me i am full of valuables!" I want a bag that sinks into the background. I travel a lot. Bags wander off or are cut and the only thing the police can say is that it sucks to be you. And it does suck to be you if youre living out a bag that has suddenly found a new owner. So I like that this is brown and just blends into the background. I love the size. You can live out of this bag for two weeks. I have done it. I love the straps everywhere on it. I typically keep this set up as a 48hr kit and it's nice to have straps that i can attach a tied and rolled up comforter too. Blankets aren't always available and I never seem to know when theres going to be an emergency and Im going to have to travel out of town and crash on someones floor. I actually like that the front pocket is hard to get into. I can put things in that pocket and throw a small padlock on that amd hide the lock under the flap. It keeps the contents secure and it hides the fact that you want the contents of that specific pocket secure. Nothing says "steal me" to a thief like a easy to open pocket with a visible lock. There are some modifications that I will make to this bag. Laptop sleeves are just stupid. They are a pointless advertising gimmick that bag makers put in their bags to show that youre getting a little extra something. The problem is that it is a little extra something where there shouldn't be anything at all. They did kindly construct the bag so that it is easy to remove with a seam ripper. I cut the sleeve out immediately. If i need a sleeve on my laptop, i will put my laptop in a sleeve. Otherwise it is wasted space and wasted weight and having one removes versatility from the bag. The side pouch is pointless. There is nothing that can be put in that thing. It is canvass and it lies flat against the side of the bag. I'm going to slice that down the middle and install some brown elastic so that i can store a water bottle there. The waist belt is a bit... short... like a lot short... I could lose a 100lbs and not fit that thing. At some point I will extend it. My final complaint is with the zipper. If the main zip went all the way around, like a clamshell, this would be the best bag ever. The side zip doesnt quite open enough to get things in and out smoothly. I will take the bag to a local luggage repair company and see if they can modify the bag to have a zipper all the way around. Is it the best bag on the market as of the writing of this review? I think so... But there is a lot of room for improvement. The bag market is flooded by bag makers who, apparently, have never traveled, never lived out of a bag, and possibly never even used one. Summary: I've had multiple compliments about how good it looks, and the fact it can be used as a duffel bag; with or without shoulder strap; or a backpack (with usual shoulder straps AND waist and chest straps) really is great. The quality is excellent. Looks great, and I like the versatility - but that comes at a price in terms of usability. As a backpack it's a bit floppy and opens along the side of the bag rather than the top (because the backpack is really the secondary 'mode'), so you can't just open up the 'top' to throw something in quickly. As a duffel bag it works pretty well, although again the opening slightly lets it down because it doesn't go the complete length of the bag, so I sometimes struggle to get my (15.4") laptop in easily as I have to fight it in. Again I find it a bit floppy, I would like it to have a bit more rigidity and hold its shape a bit better. but it doesn't really cause a problem so I'm nitpicking. Actually an advantage to the floppiness is that you can often get away with using it as a "personal item" on flights even though it's technically over-sized, because you can squish it down to fit under a seat or pass the "personal item" size checkers.

I was looking for a backpack for a short trip to Europe. I didn't wanted to check in a bag during my flights and I didn't wanted to pull a carry on while exploring Europe. It took me a while to make my mind and after seeing a lot of different options I decided to get this one mainly because I liked the canvas style. It worked great. It has a lot of space when you know how to pack. I had plenty of room to spare. The straps on the side worked great to hold a bigger jacket and a blanket. My only 'issue' was that it's really hard to access the bigger pocket on the front, tho to be fair, that makes it safer while traveling abroad to avoid pick pocketing. In overall a great bag!

I ordered this bag for a specific trip to northern Italy, it was exactly what I was looking for at the time... Maximum bag size for overhead carry on, and backpack form where the straps could be hidden away. This bag met those requirements, and looked pretty good in the ad. Upon receiving it I seemed pretty durable, it has three compartments, the main one, the front flap, and the little pouch. These compartments worked out pretty well for what I needed, main for clothes, front for travel docs and larger electronics, and the little pouch for small stuff like phone chargers and cables. Additionally, there is an internal padded separator in the main which is intended for a laptop, but I didn’t bring one, so I just used it as a space for clothing, later for separating clean from soiled clothes. I was easily able to pack for 6 days in this bag and could have jammed in more. Our trip was multiple flights, multiple cities separated by various train rides, I really liked being able to sip away the backpack straps for jamming it into overhead compartments, so they wouldn’t get tangled up in stuff. Overall the bag worked out great, I am going to make this my #1 go-to bag for trips of less than a week. On the down side, three items worth noting; (1) Access to the main compartment is through a single slit opening along one side, so the bag cannot be flapped open like a clamshell. This did not bother me too much, you just need to slip stacks of stuff into it in an orderly fashion. (2) the front flap could use a few more separations, without which everything slides to the bottom (when using the backpack straps) making them difficult to dig out and piling up behind the small pouch making that space smaller. (3) Because its a significantly larger soft pack, it conforms to your back and that gets pretty hot in any warmer environment, this obviously a small price to pay given the goal was to maximize packing space in a carry-on allowable size. The resolution would be to have a frame pack, which was antithetical to my goals; soft, max space for carry on. Following that first trip I can confirm the durability of the bag, its held up great, the heavy duty canvas, leather design, and large/heavy zippers are built to last. As a final note, on my last flight home, on a smaller regional jet, the airline identified and made everyone with a rigid or semi-rigid wheeled carry-on check them due to the limited overhead bin sizes. I sailed right past that and easily smashed this bag into the undersized overhead compartment. WIN
