Firm, cool, comfortable and all-natural
I love this pillow! It's firm and supportive, doesn't move around while I sleep, and it doesn't get hot. It does make some noise, and has a strong plant hull smell, but neither of those things bother me. I appreciate that it is made of all-natural materials that are biodegradable, so I can compost the filling and just get more several years in the future as necessary.

Fluffy pillows are a lie! Sculpt this pillow to put solid support where you need it.
By far, this pillow has given me the best sleep I've had in a while. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I woke up without neck pain. Whether you're a side sleeper or back sleeper, this is great. It's weird to get used to at first, because it sort of feels like sleeping on a rock that's specifically designed for your head and neck - but that's what is so great about it. I have hypermobile EDS, something that makes all my joints unstable, including my neck. With this pillow (I got the 20x26 size), I'm able to carve out an indent for my head (even my ear) and build up support around my neck exactly where I need it. On my side I sculpt it to prevent my chin tucking and give support to the shoulder gap, and on my back I can sculpt a curve that also prevents that chin tuck. Once you lay down, that support DOES NOT MOVE with regular sleep movement. To adjust, you just need to scrape at it with a hand gently to move it where you want, like digging in sand. So it DOES feel solid in a way that most sleepers aren't used to, but the stabilization is SO comfortable. I've even noticed that because I have such solid support, I move less in my sleep, contributing to the restfulness. If you have neck or joint pain, this is absolutely worth it. I will be purchasing more, especially to travel with. I don't think I'll be able to go back to regular pillows again.

Exceptional pillow
First feel of this pillow is awesome, I haven't slept on it yet but I could feel the support and weight of it right out of the box. It definitely has an earthy smell to it, which I don’t mind at all, my wife personally doesn’t like it, but I think it smells like I am out camping or something. It holds shape and supports my neck really well, and without a doubt completely outperforms my $30 target pillow I've had for some time. I ordered more filling for it but I honestly think the amount they send in the pillow is already really nice. The cotton is soft and it has complete control over thinness or thickness depending on how much you remove or add, and it looks really good in my opinion. It doesn't get too hot and I see good versatility in it for any sleep position. If you’re looking for something new id save the money on those expensive fancy pillows, the most basic natural things God put on this world are what we need!

A real game changer - best pillow ever!
I've been having a lot of issues where I have migraines and often wake up with them. I know it's been from my neck and shoulders being out of whack by the time I wake up. I've tried all kinds of pillows and my husband suggested I try a buckwheat pillow. I read through a lot of reviews and am really glad I picked the Lofe pillow. I feel they were really generous with the buckwheat hull fill. I'm still trying to find the right amount and height for my body, but there was quite a bit of hulls in my pillow. The cloth feels old school and natural, and they have a little hideaway for the zipper pull so that it doesn't bother your head. I put a few pillowcases around it, as I read that you don't want to let the hulls get moist at all. It does have a particular smell, but I don't feel like the smell is chemical or unbearable. It's a pleasant, earthy odor, and I don't mind it whatsoever. I got the small travel size, as I realized most of the pillows I've been sleeping on have been 14x20 or smaller. We are in a smaller sized bed and this size was PLENTY for me. I am not sure why so many need a bigger size, but I guess sleep is very personal and everyone just has to do what is right for them. I sleep almost exclusively on my side, and buckwheat is good for side sleepers and I don't feel like I need any more than that length or width, as my main concern is rolling it up and supporting my neck well from the side. I added a photo of my Lofe buckwheat pillow which is 14x20 next to my husband's queen/standard sized pillows (he sleeps with 2 of them in 1 pillow case - which are 20x26 each), just to give a comparison. I haven't tried a queen sized buckwheat pillow but that may be too much for me. Sleeping on this pillow has given me the best nights of sleep I've ever had. I barely dream or remember my dreams. I usually wake up throughout the night and my husband has complained about me snoring. He said I don't snore at all since I've used the Lofe buckwheat pillow. I usually need white noise to get through the night and if something happens and the white noise shuts off, I definitely wake up from the sudden silence. But I don't while sleeping on the Lofe buckwheat pillow. I woke up and my white noise was off, but I slept right through that. I think my waking up (from pain) went down from around 20 times a night to maybe 2 and it was just because I had to go to the bathroom or had to turn to the other side. I've added lavender bud to my pillow today to enhance my good night's sleep. I'll update this review as time passes. I'm very excited about this pillow! It's such a game changer and I feel I'll be a lot more productive with my life, after catching up on much needed sleep. I've used it as a back support bolster while sitting up in bed as well and it feels SO comfortable and supportive. I love it as both, but might invest in a separate buckwheat pillow for my back. Customer support is *excellent* and so responsive if you need anything.

Love the relief of neck pain
Be sure to throw it in the dryer on high heat for at least 30 min before using. I purchased this pillow because of neck pain I was having from old injury. The first couple of nights of using it I would wake up with bites all over my hands & arms (I sleep w/hands near my face). I couldn't figure out why then I realized it had to be coming from my pillow. Instead of throwing it out, I put it in the dryer because I thought there must be some kind of mite in the husks. Sure enough, no more bites & my neck is feeling much better. The pain has almost vanished. I am very happy with my pillow now that the bugs are out. I have put it in the dryer & will do so again to make sure no critters are alive. I'm sorry this sounds negative, but it really is a great pillow for neck pain. Oh yes it's a bit noisy but I can handle the noise for the pain relief it gives. It confirms to my neck giving it good support & it has also relieved my lower back pain because my body lays different than it did with my regular pillow.

Can never go back to regular western pillows...
These pillows have ruined me for life! I keep trying to go back and use a regular western down and synthetic down pillows and I just can't, I'm uncomfortable the whole time and nothing feels right. This affect happened within only a couple months of using this pillow in queen size. My mother had me order her a Japanese size and a Queen size, a medium for my wife and I use them all. Best part about pillow: support. It has cured my chronic neck pain (and I have advanced fibromyalgia and narcolepsy, so this is saying a lot about how much it is improving my quality of life). Now in bed, whether there's support or a slump in the mattress, the buckwheat immediately adjusts to fill the gap and make the surface your body needs for alignment. It does what memory foam is SUPPOSED to do even though the reality is that once foam compresses, it remains hard unless you fully lift your weight up and off for a significant amount of time. Yes it's seconds, but when one is asleep NONE of that is able to occur and so it just stays squished and hard, but not this ancient way of making a pillow, it works, the West should just be adopting it instead of trying to recreate the wheel. Response to common comments and concerns for this pillow specifically vs. other company buckwheat pillows: - I have checked every one of these pillows on the inside and they all are beautiful buckwheat husks NO BUGS or sticks - For every pillow except the Queen size, I have had to remove a LOT of buckwheat. This is to allow room for every person's need for hardness/softness and hard support/bendy support. At this point I have enough extra buckwheat to make another pillow! - Noisy? Only at the moment of adjustment and it isn't loud, it can just sometimes muffle my quiet audiobook when I move - Smell? Smells like buckwheat husks, so slightly there but I don't notice it unless I push my face into the pillow (and my sense of smell is my strongest sense). I have it inside an allergy protector pillow cover and then a normal pillowcase over it. When I do smell it, it smells good and like fresh nature to me! - STAYS COOL - it will warm if you stay put or were to actively have a hot water bottle or something on it, but it immediately cools, much faster than down/synthetic/cotton pillows, so in the night- as a sleep-sweater - I stay much cooler the entire time - I only need one of these pillows to use at a time, not 2 like I used to need Cons: Expensive replacing old pillows with these; nothing ever feels good, right, or the same again with Western-styled pillows. I rarely write reviews, wasn't sponsored for any of this, and only will go out of my way to write anything about a product if I find it exceptionally good and beyond expectations, or horrendously bad. Clearly, I love these pillows. Just take a jump and get a medium or my preferred Queen (japanese just barely fits my head) and try it out, it has been completely worth it.

My search for the perfect pillow ended with this lovely.
I’ve had two years of peaceful, restorative sleep with this pillow. I don’t need night time pain meds (for fibromyalgia type discomfort) to fall and stay asleep now. I said ByeBye to prescription medicine related side effects, so It comes on every trip too. It is not A Pillow, but Four pillows for me, because I bought several more small zipper cases similar to the one it comes in, and use one behind my back for side sleeping with one between my knees to keep hips aligned. OR I will sleep on my back with the other buckwheat pillows strategically placed under my knees. In either position, I don’t move all night. If a minor adjustment is needed, my hand may make a little larger indent for occipital or head shape, but it’s not enough to disturb or fully wake me. I also find the slight rustling noise to sound like a natural breeze through leaves and I can’t imaging being parted from this pillow. I hope more people find the relief I am getting from it, and appreciate the company more than I have been able to say here. I should mention that if you “decant” some of the husks into other small zip cases, be sure to have a huge bowl or two ready, because it is a very full product. That’s a good thing, and once I made the several smaller pillows, I haven’t needed any more changes in two years. I’m about to buy another, though, to use as a back bolster for sitting up in bed and on the couch.

Pleasantly surprised! If you're on the fence, just buy it.
I've been making an effort to replace some synthetic items with organic ones from certain areas of my household, like bedding. I'd heard of buckwheat pillows before but never knew anyone who had used them. I decided to give this pillow a shot, and I've been pleasantly surprised! I've been sleeping on it for about 2 weeks and am very happy with it. It's kind of like sleeping on a comfy bean bag but it holds its shape better. Also, it retains a cooler temp because airflow thru the material is a possibility, unlike polyester stuffing. Ever since I changed my spare blanket and pillow to organic materials, I've been sleeping much more comfortably and cooler. And while this pillow is on the firmer side, it's not like sleeping on a brick or anything. My boyfriend uses a fancy foam pillow with all kinds of contours, and if you don't fit those contours exactly, it doesn't really provide a great experience. This pillow is much more moldable to an individual. The pillow case it comes with is also a lovely high end cotton-- I use a silk one on top so I can launder it. When you first buy it, it is a bit striking to open up the pillow and see all the dark husks in there. I'm happy with my purchase though and definitely recommend!

Comfortable pillow and excellent customer service.
The pillow is comfortable to sleep on and is adjustable as you can reduce the amount of fill yourself. The pillow comes with care instructions and an offer to send for a free pillow case which I did. The seller was very responsive and prompt in sending the free case upon request. Customer service and communication is excellent. Highly recommended.
