What a great safe! very solid, far more solid than I expected. It also has a damper shock that holds the door open for you so the lid doesn't slam down on you while your pulling your hoards of gold and money out of it. The combo is a little harder to do than I expected and the flat piece of metal that covers the top needs rubber pads under it so the lid dont rattle if you walk on it. Its an easy fix to do it yourself though. Now the hard work begins! Gotta install it! EDIT: I finally got it installed and it took about 3 hours for the full install. I rented a jack hammer at Home Depot and took out an 18 X 18 square. I know a little overkill but I wanted room to fill the concrete in good. In Florida there is a very high water table, as little as a foot sometimes so after I dug the hole and put sand down for a good level surface I put a 3 mil plastic cover over the entire safe then put it in the hole. I then filled the concrete around the outside of the plastic until it was almost level. Then I cut the last bit of plastic level to the top and turned it down and filled the concrete to the top so there was no plastic showing. (Just the top 2 inches didnt have plastic). I am very happy with the install and if you can run a 20lb. Jack hammer then you can install this. The top of this safe is a solid 1/2 inch steel plate so it would be extremely hard to get into this thing. I did put some rubber pads on the lid to keep it from rattling when walked on. I am very surprised the maker didnt add these to the unit. It makes a big difference.

I was skeptical after reading bad reviews. The safe arrived I opened the packaging and attempted to open the safe. I then read the instructions to identify which was the 12 o'clock mark and it opened. I have opened it 2-3 times a day for almost 30 days. I wanted to make sure it was not going to be a problem before I concreted it in place. It has never failed to open smoothly and without any problems. This is a quality safe, the dial is smooth and feels like a bank vault in operation. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and skip the bad reviews, I think most are because people didn't fully read and understand how to open a 4 dial safe.

The safe looks great and appears to be high quality. The only problem is the combination mechanism is very hard to open. Three people tried to open the safe and only two could get it opened three out of ten tries. Get the model with a keypad.

It could have been better packaged and I did need to straighten a corner of the 1/8" steel cover plate. As others said, I did modify and print out opening instructions -- once my family members tried them out and suggested modification to the text, we laminated it and put a copy in our will documents, etc. It is a bit persnickity to open. For those two reasons, I took off a star. About the safe: If you are like us and don't have crazy wealth, but want a not-too-expensive, discreet, and somewhat secure place to keep your key documents, a small amount of emergency cash, and some ammo....well, this floor safe fits the bill. One should be clever in location choice and also in obfuscating visibility. That is, this safe doesn't strike me as super-robust and I'd bet someone could defeat it given an afternoon of unfettered access with a few diamond-tipped bits. But as I said, if you plan on storing some REAL valuables outside of a safety deposit box (gold or >$1000 cash, etc)...you probably aren't buying something this inexpensive! :-)

I placed the safe in the concrete foundation. Followed instructions, project took a couple hours from creating hole in foundation to install. Not counting allowing several days for to concrete to dry.

A bit confusing to get open but seems very solid. I was so impressed by how fast it arrived. I opted to wait to get free shipping. I got it in days. Great surprise. I'd like to know how to change the combination but see no instructions. I'd give 5 stars but the lack of information is disappointing. I don't appreciate that I'd have to pay a locksmith to change the combunation.
