Worth the money
Spendy for a rachet, but worth the time and muscle saver! Genuine Makita, hesitate to spend money that will sit around most the time when I already have full set of rachets, but this tool made bolt removal and install a breeze. Not a lot of torque ugga dugga to tighten down, but plenty enough to get it tight to hand tighten. As review states you can use as a regular rachet but takes some practice. Only flaw is the switch on top to reverse direction can sometimes get knocked loose and will spin freely. Highly recommend to anyone getting too old to feel the aches of wrenching!

A great ratched for those already invested in Makita batteries
Bought this as a gift because the one I've owned for 3 years is one of my favorite tools. The trigger provides nice variability of RPM and the head is thin enough to get into some pretty funky places. This has saved me so much time over the years working on engines, assembling furniture, zipping bolts off solar batteries, installing threaded inserts into walls, etc. I wish it had a reversible 3/8 and 1/4 drive because the spare drive head is easy to misplace but I've also never even bothered switching to the 1/4 drive so its not worth taking a point off. Like all Makita tools it is really high quality in the materials and assembly.

Why didn't I see the beauty of this tool before?
I admit, I didn't see the point of a ratchet that was only capable of 30-lb ft of torque. I'm used to using impacts with much higher rating. But then I watched a video that enlightened me and it totally changed my view. What I didn't realize with that these tools are *also* manual ratchets. So if you need a bit more oomph, just push or pull the tool until the fastener breaks loose. Or if you want it a bit tighter than 30lb-ft. The lower torque is actually a good thing because it means there's almost zero kickback on a tool like this. That, plus the smart Makita electronics that will cut the power before the ratchet whips your hand into a nearby steel object and hurts you. I've done a good bit of work with mine since I got it a couple weeks ago and it's still going strong on the same 5.0 battery I put in it. It's a VERY useful tool that I didn't expect to like as much as I did. It's superior (IMO) to an air ratchet because of the protective electronics and lack of kickback.

Solid Makita ratchet with some room for improvement
Used this to replace the rollers on my garage door. It was able to loosen and tighten the sheet metal screws as well as the lag bolts going into studs without any issues. The compact head design was handy for getting into tighter spots around the garage door track. The built-in LED light was also useful for seeing clearly while working in the dimmer areas of the garage. The ability to switch from 1/4" to 3/8" drive is nice, though honestly I always leave it on 3/8" anyway. That said, the anvils are small and easy to misplace, and I wish there was a spot on the tool itself to store the one you're not using. A couple of small nitpicks: the direction change switch is located at the head/socket area, which means you have to take it off the fastener and flip the toggle if you are trying to reverse what you just did. It would be much better if there was a separate switch closer to the trigger. Torque is moderate, so it's good for most fastening tasks but won't power through really stuck bolts the way a full impact wrench would.

Works great after loosened
This will work great to install and remove after you get the nut initially broke free. It will also work as a manual wrench with the motor off which is what you have to do when the bolt torque is over 20-30 ft-lbs. If you need to break a nut loose then use a an impact wrench, not this. If you need to tightened the nut at the end, use a torque wrench, not this. It only speeds up the install and remove steps for loose nuts. It was great in a tight access location where the ratchet was only making one or two clicks per cycle and was taking forever, but this did the job quickly.

Get it
Is a Makita, what else is there to say? And I love the fact that you can change the head between 1/4 and 3/8 size.

Piece of Junk x 2
The first one I got had literally no torque. I would need to use a socket driver to loosen or final tightening. So was the point. So thinking I had a bad one, I got a replacement. The replacement was even worse and would not turn the socket at all even without any pressure after one bolt was spun off. I have all Makita tools and generally have been very satisfied; however, this was the worse piece of junk of a tool I have ever bought. I returned the second one for a refund.

Poor quality and Worse customer service
Very poor quality and worse customer service. Unfortunately the product broke after a couple of uses, even though it was not fit for purpose we asked for a simple repair or a screw so we could repair ourselves but only after several prompts were advised the manufacturer would contact us from China!! Obviously this hasn't happened and the seller refuses to accept their responsibilities and continues to ignore.

Quite powerful well built
My son uses it in the garage he works at and has high praise for it. Lots of power and can be used as a ratchet if it's very tight to get it going. Highly recommend.
