Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles - Carbon Fiber Walking or Hiking Sticks with Quick Adjustable Locks

Very light and practical

Went on big hikes and backpacking excursions for years without trekking poles. Always told myself they were for people who were out of shape and I didn’t need them. I have some back and knee issues which have gotten worse lately so I decided to give them a try. Hiking Mailbox Peak without poles and then with these—the difference is night and day. I can go so much farther and with less pain and fewer knee problems after the hike. These are easy to adjust on the go, if you’re climbing or descending a steep trail. The little add on pieces are nice too. The grips aren’t cork so they get a little sweaty, but not slippery. The straps can be tightened to support the heel of your hand, but I found that they slipped a bit so I just tied them on the other end. These feel lightweight, but solid and durable. I’m not a professional mountain climber—only doing 10-20 miles a day with these. But they seem like they’ll hold up well.

For the price, these were the best carbon poles by far. Lightest by far in the sub $100 range. Cascade is a know brand. They sell a three section pair with cork grips at costco and on here, but the weight, although maybe just around 100g lighter each pole, is noticeably lighter. When extended to 48-52” there is a slight vibration feel/hollow sound when touched to ground but im guessing its not uncommon with light carbon poles. Im happy to accept the minimal vibration as i feel only a single piece pole would be totally vibration free These are only about 3 inches longer when collapsed compared to the other three section poles mentioned (which had a similar feel/vibration). When closed, because they are tapered at the end, they move in and out freely an inch or so (the clamp is set at the extended fatter pole diameter so the bottom part is loose at the tapered part when collapsed). Im 5’11” 180lbs and feel these are strong enough to assist with hiking balance. Havent used them yet but wanted a light as possible pair. Compared to most $200-300 name brand sets, these are still lightest or as light. I prefer two sections anyway as they have less parts to break and wont be abusing them so dont have concerns about durability of carbon. Not sure if two sections is considered stronger or weaker than three sections. Also comes with a nylon zip bag to store poles and baskets/parts I guess the one star off is for the loose ends when collapsed and the vibration.

Broke literally the first time I used them. Too bad because they are light and comfortable to use but I guess you get what you pay for.
