Gets My Stamp of Approval as a “Certified Moon Machine”
Changing the time and other functions: I’ve been to a watch repair shop several times in the past few years to have a battery replaced, and in two shops I was asked if I could leave it overnight. I was amused to find out why they needed 24 hours to replace a battery, which is because they are embarrassed about needing the time to find someone who knows how to set the time etc. The last guy I went to who wanted 24 hours confessed and told me he had to have his wife figure out how to set the time and whatnot. Another person who left a review on this mentioned he was able to change the functions without the manual. Even as a retired engineer I’m not quite that good. It’s nice that most the gadgets we get these days have a user manual included, but if you use it you’d better have a good magnifying glass to see that tiny print. Thank God for those all so nice pdf user manuals available online. Pros: 1- It's fabulous the way the analog hands automatically move to the correct time position after you set the digital time. 2- You can be at the North Pole or one of those places where it’s dark for six months, and the charge on your solar watch battery will last that long (actually ten months). 3- The battery never has to be replaced. 4- Displays both Digital and Analog time. 5- Glow in the dark hands and 12, 3, 6 & 9 positions. 6- Battery indicator tells you if the battery is low, middle or hi charge. 7- You don't have to have sunlight to charge - Charges well with indoor lighting. Went from Middle Charge to High Charge in a few hours with indoor lighting. So don't worry about cloudy days. 8- The low cost for such a good quality watch with so many features does not break the bank. Cons: 1- Minor – The analog glow in the dark feature isn’t very bright, but it’s okay since you can press the light button that illuminates the digital time. 2- Minor – List of city codes is limited. Many cities are not on the list. But if your city is not on the list you can pick one that’s in the same time zone as you, which could mean you may not have the automatic Daylight Savings Time, and may have to change it manually. 3- Minor - The sound of the chime or alarm is not very loud. Yes, I admit to being a gadget freak, and as such I will also admit to this being my second solar powered watch. The first was a little less money and does not have a rechargeable battery but I decided to keep it because it looks nice. This one is my favorite because the battery is rechargeable & I like all the features. It's my second Casio watch. The first one I've had for several years and I love it as well, with all it's features of Altimeter, Barometer etc. So I can definitely recommend Casio watches.

Over five years now and going strong!
I bought this watch five and a half years ago and have worn it daily ever since. I have never had it run out of power and stop and it keeps almost perfect time - it takes a year or two to get a couple of minutes off the exact time. The button combinations to change the date or time are complicated, best to have the manual handy when attempting it. And DO NOT lose the manual - this would be a maddening device to deduce the operation of. After five years of daily use with a hands on kind of guy the crystal is a bit scratched but still readable and the watch still works perfectly. Nice product!

Decent watch, not great (but quite durable)
Update May 2023: It's been almost 10 years since I bought this watch, and it keeps going. I still think the issues I reported are important, but this watch has withstood so much since I bought it. I have used it for swimming and for every day work. I even had an accident where the watch was hit, and it still works and looks good. So, I decided to increase to 4 stars my review for how reliable it is. I have used other watches in this time, but I always keep this one as a perfect backup and it has not failed me in what matters. So good work Casio, your watch is pretty reliable and sturdy and that alone makes it a worthwhile purchase. I have always trusted Casio as far as wrist watches go. My last watch, though, was an Armitron, which I bought very cheap on Amazon and which worked fantastically. Sadly, its wrist band broke and it was next to impossible to find a replacement. I decided to buy a new watch and Casio was an obvious choice, as I knew replacement parts would be easier to find in my area. The watch looks nice. It is big, but not huge. I love that is solar powered. It has most of the regular options and tools of most digital watches, like alarms, alternate time (if you need to have to check the time in 2 different time zones), stopwatch, etc. It seems like a perfectly fine watch. The reason I decided to give it 3 stars is for how lacking it is when you are using it in the dark or low light. The watch has some "glow in the dark" marks on the hands and the time, but they are hard to see, because they are small. You also have a small LCD screen that can help with that. Sadly, the screen is so small and the illumination so bad, that it is hard to recognize the time or information being shown on the screen. I can understand that this is a cheap model for Casio, and maybe if I decided to pay an extra $20 for a watch, more than likely, I wouldn't have this problem, but hey, in this age, I was expecting a better illumination method. I ride a motorcyle, and I love wearing a watch, because it is easier to check the time on your wrist while you are riding the bike than taking your smartphone out. But at night, checking the watch becomes more complicated than it needs to be. So far, I like it and like how it looks, and it works perfectly except from the illumination. I would recommend it, but only if you know light won't be an issue.

Casio is King!
A most excellent solar powered watch by Casio. Looks nice & rugged, analog dial & digital display are both easy to read. Very easy to adjust after watching a Youtube video. Comfortable strap & nice color too.

GREAT BUY! This watch is freakin' awesome.
Okay, so I've spent thousands of dollars on over dozens of fancy watches over the years that are a pain in the ass because you have to replace the batteries and adjust the time and dates, mostly because I thought if you want something that looked nice, you gotta pay big bucks for it. I've recently become a salesman, and the first thing they told me about my appearance, is you gotta shave the beard, and you gotta lose the fancy shiny expensive looking watches...because it made me look like I was into it for the money (that's a no-no). One of my coworkers who makes over 100k a year said he bought one of these for $40 at a place that rhymes with moles. It looks sporty and less dressy, and if I insisted on wearing a watch, go for something like this. When I saw this watch at the department store, I thought it looked pretty sweet. I knew nothing about what it did, then read the reviews on Amazon and decided for $30, who gives a crap? If I don't like it I'll send it back. I've had it for an hour, been tinkering around, and all I can say is WOW. First thing you need to do when you get this watch is adjust it to your time zone. What's awesome about this, is that it KNOWS what time zone you're in, *IF* you know how to adjust it. PRO TIP: Hold down the adjust button for five seconds and the hands will move by themselves to 12:00. Then hold adjust again for 2 seconds and the watch will AUTOMATICALLY set the digital and analog time (yes, the analog will spin clock or counter-clockwise on its in to match the digital) to your time zone on its own for you. *MIND BLOWN* So anytime I get on a plane and fly, all I have to do is repeat this sequence, not even know what time it is or the zone I'm in, and the watch resets the time for me. KICK FRIGGIN ASS! Not to mention it has a second time zone so you could know what time it is in Bangladesh (useless for me but cool nonetheless), 5 alarms, a stopwatch, military or standard time, the date, the day of the week, and probably a bunch of other features I'll learn about eventually but will probably never use. Then it's got a light for the digital that you can program for the amount of seconds you want it to light up! SCHA-WING! It's also solar which means I'll never have to pay for a battery because I'm outside in the sun for atleast an hour every day. Waterproof, lightweight, feels durable on my wrist. The glass over the watch feels cheap, but to be honest, who cares it's a work watch. And if the glass happens to break, woe is me, it's going to be another thirty bucks. Boo Hoo. The manual is a beast and after 20 minutes of reading, I gave up and went to Google, and found my answers. Why rifle through a manual with the internet on your side? When you ask a question just include Casio Module 5208 and many of my questions were answered. Never thought I'd come upon such a great watch that looks so good while being so cheap, and has so many features, for such a great price tag. 100% satisfied off the bat, everything else is icing on the cake. If you're on the fence, GET THIS WATCH you will NOT regret it!

Very Nice Watch works well
Great watch so far solar recharging works great easy to see and read and works great for what I want pretty much being able to see the time and date really don't use any of the other functions on the watch very comfortable band seems very sturdy and well made I have had a number of these style watches over the past several years and really enjoy them but they last about a year or year and a half and either the strap breaks or the battery runs out This Casio so far seems much sturdier than the cheaper watches I have owned and the solar powered battery will allow it to last several years so for me its just what I wanted a simple watch that is easy to read, looks good and should last me for 10 years or more just what I wanted and at a very reasonable price for what you get in the watch will update after I've had it a few years to see how it actually holds up but so far seems excellent and a great buy

GREAT WATCH AT A GREAT PRICE!!!
This review is for the Casio CAS91 "Tough Solar Illuminator" watch with hands (AQS810W-1AV). I'm a timepiece SNOB. You know that for sure, because I called it a "timepiece". :) Normally, I don't purchase watches unless they're made by Citizen but, Casio should NEVER be underestimated!!! This watch actually has precise movement of the hands... no having to align the minute hand precisely on your own. Set the time digitally and, voila... the hands move RIGHT to where their supposed to be!!! No, it DOES NOT have a second hand (that's the only thing that I wish it DID have) BUT, not to worry!!! Seconds are always displayed on the digital display in when it is set to time or date mode... so, tho it may not have a second hand, it still has a seconds display. Easy-to-read instructions and a limited, 1-year manufacture's warranty are included. You could set the watch on your own, as the buttons are adequately marked and placed intuitively; I was able to set mine without using the instructions, and I'm NOT a "digital watch" guy. Great and inexpensive enough for kids but, probably a bit bulky for them. Recommend for ages, say, 13/14 and up. Yet, for adults, classy and jazzy enough to be considered a dress watch from sports player to top business executives. Easy to keep clean; a little bit of Windex and a soft cloth or the soap you use to wash your hands will keep it looking sharp!!! Glow in the dark hands make night viewing of the time on the analog hands a breeze, and they retain their luminescence WELL into the night, for those of you who wear a watch to bed. The on-board light is handy, as well, and only illuminates the watch when you press the button---thus, increasing battery savings. The battery recharges from nearly dead to full charge in approximately 4 hours, if adequate sunlight is available BUT, be sure NOT to leave the timepiece exposed to direct sunlight when the temperate is above 50F/10C, or the unit will get very hot, and you may damage it. Once the unit has a full charge, indoor lighting is usually enough to keep it fully charged. It will notify you when you need to charge it. Calendar is perpetual and never needs to be adjusted. MINE showed up with the time and date already set for my time zone. 5 programmable alarms are available to help you keep a schedule (sans smart phone!!!), and the model is INCREDIBLY DURABLE. It can be worn in the shower or whilst swimming to a depth of 100 metres or approximately 300 feet. Stopwatch and timer features make it a great watch for the sporty type... choose your own Time Zone, 12/24 hour display, UTC/"Zulu" time available in analog or digital. A NICE, LONG WRIST BAND makes it a total win for the big and tall folks (my original purpose for the purchase, I was NOT disappointed!!!) 5 STARS!!! Cheapest price that I found for it was Amazon.com; free, standard shipping got it here within 2-3 business days.

Great watch… for a while
Nice watch with good features, light weight but not very rugged. After 3 years, the bezel is cracked in a few spots. Not a problem that can’t be solved with a little superglue. Then it started leaking badly while swimming. I think it’s through the buttons.

Why buy a G?
I think the write-up description for this watch is all wrong...it is espousing the 'luxury' 'any affair' use of this watch like it is a black tie watch...it's not, (unless you only have one watch-and you only have $50 to spend on a watch...then it should be this watch!). I purchased this watch to be my work watch...I wanted something rugged-check, easy to read-check, tactical look and feel-check, inexpensive enough that if it got broke it wouldn't ruin my day-check...in all aspects this is a GREAT watch and probably an even better choice than the G-Shock or Pro-Trek lines I was originally looking at to fill the above role. It keeps excellent time (as compared to the atomic clock-dead on), it's solar-so hopefully won't need the case opened ever in it's lifespan? guess we'll see what lasts longer the case/crystal or the battery...(as far as the 'crystal' goes...I do not think it is mineral as stated in the description-I think it is merely plastic-but the raised lip of the bezel protects it very well-mine has not received one blemish and I do not worry about it while on patrol on land or water...Is it better than a G-Shock? Maybe not-but for the money-I'd say definitely...the large ani-digi face is more classy than a straight digital-with 'at a glance' readability that you don't get from straight digital-plus it has world time/dual time zones, alarms, stop watch, countdown timer features that you aren't likely to get in a straight analogue watch. I am very happy with this purchase and am certain if you want an everyday, sport, hiking, knock around watch that if you forget to change out before dressing up-you may just be proud to show it off...It's an excellent watch at a great price...

great for daily use , specially for young people
This is a really good timepiece , pros 1. light weight 2. powered by light - both indoor and outdoor lights will do 3. day date month display along with analog time 4. provision for various city timing 5. 5 alarms - though alarm will drain power 6. hourly chime 7. water dust proof 8. easy to set up - just select your city - DEL in case of India - and you are done cons day and date month display should have been in a single display page (like other youth series watches), now button press needed to toggle , between. there is a small windows where 5-6 horizontal bars continuously change to indicate its charging (i think) its completely redundant and not needed. over all its a great watch for daily use , you can wear it school/college /work place. amazon delivery was great- on time and properly packed - as usual cheers

Casio a permanently an 'almost ran' company
Really good. Quite legible but if rather the hands were thicker and fully solid. There seems no point to holding the minute hand as you can't see the date through it. Casio never seen to make the perfect watch. It's like they do that on purpose to keep you coming back.
