Product by meta portal TV is amazing, it works for messenger calls and whatsapp calls once configured without the need for mobile phone. this is useful for tech savvy people. company need to incorporate easy one touch button navigation for messenger or whats app call , esp for elderly people its very difficult to go through menus and sub menus and then activate the calling feature. inbuilt alexa doesnt work in indian setup atleast as on today, thats what i observed. over all product concept is good, but gaining momentum in India market is a challenge, unless improvement is made keeping the elderly non tech savvy ppl in view. best is mimic the phone functionality in this hardware for video calls via messenger and whats app. Pros: 1.excellent video clarity, 2.the camera follows the active person speaker 3. build quality is excellent. cons:1. lots of menus and submenus navigation 2. inbuilt alexa doesnt work in india 3.the adaptor says 12v and 20A = 240W, isnt laptop is better in power consumption ? around 65watts/hr?

Everything is ok. Only thing is tbat they removed prime video app but they provide dedicated butten in remote

Once you set up this product so handy. It is so good for families who lives far away and hasn't seen for ages !!!. It makes you feel seeing them in same room and so close. so far no issues wiith the product( oNLY BROUGHT A WEEK AGO). Good quality depends upon your internet speed. Compare to other countries the price is too high India.

Video chat was never so good. It’s really like sitting and talking face to face. Amazing product !

Not useful, prime video app is not working. Fecbook Watch app not working.

Useful for families to connect across different geographies. Additional apps will be a replacement for Firestick, apple tv and chromecast.

Easy calling in facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Kids are liking storytell animation in the call.

Price is high not worth it. Amazon prime video not working and Instagram also not opening , Facebook watch also not opening. Just want to get normal video call to friends/relatives go to it. Otherwise don’t expect much specifications/features.

I was quite hesitant if this would be any good before buying it. No regrets anymore. Read on why! Primary purpose was for making Zoom calls and found mixed information on this topic. I even contacted Facebook Portal support to check. Surprisingly, the person who I was dealing with said Zoom was not supported! I sent them a link to a recent review in which it specifically mentioned Zoom. Only after that and this person conferred with someone else did they confirm it is supported. They also confirmed that there is only 1 generation of the device. So even though it may not be advertised, like with this seller, it does work. There are an array of apps you can install on this device. Zoom is simply one of them. Getting it installed and signed in was quick and easy. Facebook Messenger calling and WhatsApp calling are not permitted in the UAE, so I can’t offer any review of either. IMPORTANT: I almost sent the unit back initially trying to get remote working! The on-screen instructions were to press the centre button on the remote to sync it to the unit. This did not despite trying 3 different sets of batteries. I checked the troubleshooting pages and the steps there were in fact different. Easy after that. To sign in, could choose to use WhatsApp or Facebook account. Even though I won’t use this for Facebook calling (because I can’t), signed in using that account anyway. Setting up calls is relatively easy, but could do with some improvement. The call and video quality is excellent. The wide angle of the camera is very handy. The camera “follows” you around the room if move, and adjusts focus/zoom accordingly. Ie if just one person talking will Include just then in the frame. The more people, the wider the angle. The audio is excellent quality too. Amazing how sensitive (in a good way) the microphone is. My couch is around 3meters from the TV but the calling party could easily hear me while I was talking in a standard level. No need to raise my voice. The remote has Netflix and Prime Video and Facebook buttons too.

It works well as advertised, no hiccups whatsoever, once connected to your Facebook and WhatsApp account, you can make a video call with just a few clicks on the remote.

Really user-friendly product, especially for olderly people with no smartphones. I know demand was limited but its a pity Meta stopped producing it.

I bought two of these, one for my parents and one for myself. I paid £150 for two of these, one for my parents and one for my home. We are very pleased with this and it is a big improvement over other options I have tried including: Skype on TV built in webcam (Skype has now been discontinued) Connecting laptop with Skye camera to the TV (have to arrange call beforehand so it's all setup) Windows stick PC that plus into the HDMI socket with USB web cam (painfully slow to use and subject to annoying Windows updates when you want to use it) Mobile phone connected to TV with Chromecast (sound comes through the phone speaker and requires something to hold the phone in place so the camera is pointing in the right direction) Raspberry Pi connected to TV with webcam (video worked but sound didn't) I think this is really the only option that works well on the TV. The Portal TV was relatively easy to setup, although my Mum was unable to get it working with WhatsApp, but I had no problem with this. Video and sound quality are good, although I wish the video quality was higher definition. Occasionally you do get some audio feedback where you can hear an echo of yourself. It seems to help if the other end turns their sound down a little. However, this has been an issue with everything else I've tried so far. One great feature that works really well is how the camera keeps people in the frame. This makes a big difference to the call, and makes it feel much more intimate. There are a lot of visual effects that can be applied which are a lot of fun for children but will probably not use much in the long run. Overall very happy with this and would recommend for anyone wanting video calls over the TV.
