Q: Are the wires solid copper or are they copper clad aluminum wires?

Not solid copper. Copper-clad aluminium wire or CCA, is an electrical conductor composed of an inner aluminium core and outer copper cladding. Aluminum and Steel have a much higher resistance than that of the copper. Thus the use of CCA wire in Cat5e cables and CAT6 cables will lead to larger amounts (than solid copper) of data loss. This will eventually lead to slower data speeds.

The listing did not always show an angle of the box that states CCA. The description did not mention CCA. The box I received had no specs at all. The cable has "Cat5e UTP SOLID 24AWG/4 PRS" printed on it. Striping one of the wires and scraping at it does reveal a silver-colored aluminum core. I was hoping for pure copper, but haven't actually had any issues with running this cable around my apartment.

I used it and is just the same as the other stuff on the market. 50 bucks less
