Dermoscribe Seborrheic Dermatitis Cream for Itchy Skin and Eczema, 2 Oz

UPDATE: April 2021: Four years in and this cream is a staple. Sometimes I'll stop using it and shift to other creams only for my skin to slowly go back to its rough, flaky, red state. That's when I remember this cream and why I love it so much. I can't tell you if this will work for you, but I can tell you that nothing else helped me... not other sulfuric ointments, not salicylic acid, not super "clean" products formulated for super sensitive skin that cost way more than they should - nothing. This cream works for me. A single tube, even with daily use, lasts me easily six months or so, so it's an economical buy to try out. Whether it's this product or another, I hope you find something that works for your skin!! UPDATE: June 20th, 2019: This is still a must-have for me. It's the only thing that helps keep my skin free of scaly patches and all sorts of redness. At this point I just mix it into my moisturizer right before applying and it "melts" into my skin perfectly and without drying me out. Really fantastic product - literally the only thing I've found that works so well. UPDATE: April 16th, 2018: This cream is still working for me! I've been pairing it with a gentle salicylic acid scrub and an oil-free moisturizer, and the change in my skin is amazing. Mixing the cream with the moisturizer works just as well and seems to help me avoid some of the dry-skin issues that can crop up. I highly recommend it! -------- I purchased this cream on September 25, 2017, and have been using it ever since it arrived. It's been a fixed presence in my skincare routine for about four months, in other words, so I feel like I've used it long enough to leave an accurate review. I adore this stuff, to put it simply. My skin used to be very easy to take care of - acne wasn't an issue, I didn't need a lot of skincare products to keep it clear... it was just sort of naturally fine. Not amazing, mind you, but there were no significant issues until a few years ago. I don't know what happened, but my skin went crazy and has never really recovered. More specifically, I've been dealing with patches of flakey, scaley rashes/acne (it seems like both, to be honest), particularly across my forehead, above my eyebrows, down my nose, and around my mouth. This has been a nightmare for me. I've tried so many creams and lotions trying to find something that would calm my skin down. I even went off of all skincare products for several months to rule out an allergic reaction to something, but there was little change. So. I've spent a lot of time over the years trying to figure out what is wrong with my face. Finally I decided to try an option for seborrheic dermatitis. The symptoms and pictures fit, and I really didn't have anything to lose. To be quite frank, I didn't expect this to work at all. You guys, it worked so well. When you read reviews and people say that there was an "immediate" change, you roll your eyes, right? How dramatic - not to mention impossible, since your skin takes around a month to fully acclimate to a product... so even if something seems like it's a good option at first, it might end up being worse for your skin after a few weeks. I'm going to say the following even though I'm fully aware of the reaction these words would inspire within me: there was an almost immediate change in my skin when I began using this cream. And when I say "almost immediate", I mean that I used it at night, went to bed, and when I woke up the next day my face was significantly less red and less flakey and just looked healthier and clearer. I don't know exactly what it is in this cream that works for me - maybe the sulfur. It's been working for me consistently since the first night I used it, so whatever is in it works well for my skin. It doesn't turn my skin into a porcelain mask or anything - it's not flawless. But the difference between how it was before and how it is now is night and day. With all of that said, there are a few things you should be aware of when making the decision to purchase (or not) this cream. It does smell like sulfur. No one aside from me is able to smell it once it's on my face, and it's not overwhelmingly strong. I can smell it a bit even after it is on my face. Again, it's not an overwhelming scent and doesn't bother me. This cream does dry out my skin. To help combat this, I've been using a gentle facial scrub in the shower, using this cream when I get out, and then covering my face with an oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin. This combination leaves my skin softer than I ever remember it being. That's it, to be honest - there aren't many downsides to this product for me. I'm still on the same tube I originally purchased - a tiny bit of this really does go a long way. As long as I stay up on moisturizing my face every day, my skin feels hydrated. If you're dealing with some of the same issues I described above, then I'd recommend trying this cream. It's not cost-prohibitive to do so, and it seems like it really does work wonders for at least some of us. I know it's not a well-known skincare brand and you might be wary of the integrity of the reviews, but it just works so well... give it a shot if you're so inclined.

I was desperate for relief during an SD flare that had lasted weeks and bought this based on reviews. Worth every penny! My skin on my face, hairline, neck and behind my ears is completely clear and itch/flake free after 3 days. I did two applications each of the first two days and only needed one on the third day. By the fourth day I could switch back to my regular skin care routine. And I applied very little! Less than a pea size for each side of my face. It goes a long way. It does sort of have a hummus scent that is less than ideal, but once it soaks in completely after 20-30 mins you can’t smell anything. It’s not a strong enough scent to make a big deal over compared to how effective it is. If you are debating, just stop and get this!

This cream is fantastic. I have seborrheic dermatitis and nothing was working to reduce the dry spots and red patches on my forehead. I used another product and it helped a little with the redness. When I got this and used it, within 2 days to dry patches were clearing and the redness is just shy of completely gone. I cant believe I waited so long to try this. My doctor said it wasn't psoriasis or eczema but never told me what it was or offered any suggestions. Then I remembered I developed the seborrheic dermatitis in my 3rd trimester in 1980 while pregnant. So I looked for a product for it and found this. It burns slightly on application, I assume that means its working, the burning subsides quickly. I will be keeping this product around

Used it for the 1st time and it does seem to help. The flakes haven’t come back as thick like they usually do the very next day of me scrubbing them out. The stuff does stink like Clinical Head and Shoulders which i also have to use unfortunately because i get the rash along my hair lines, behind ears and now for the first time, the corners of my eyebrows and i noticed it coming in around my cheeks where laugh lines appear. Once that started happening, i said uh uh something has to be done about this. Not having this stuff spreading to no where on my face! I believe this is just a flare up cuz usually my seb isn’t this bad. I read flare ups tend to happen during winter and with certain foods like dairy. It is winter and i do consume a lot of milk. Rest of the year i usually didn’t have to actively combat the rash. This is my 1st time having to do so. I never thought it would or could get this bad. This cream is helping out a lot but could be better. It does leave a film on the skin/hairline area drying out my hair. I didn’t feel any bad irritations. I will continue to use this cream during these flare ups and hopefully that’s all it is. I wouldn’t want to have to use this stuff everyday for the rest of my life. I hope i can break here and there due to the smell and the dryness of my hair. Usually i used ProActive because that also helps with Seb on the face really well. It contains the same medication salicylic acid that treats it. I have been out of it for about a year now. Buying more as i write this. Yes, i recommend trying this cream and i also recommend ProActive. It does help. 2 months update: My Seb Derm never came back in most of my places. Like, behind my ears and back hair line after using this only 3 times! I also just got a new shipment of Proactive yesterday so I’m back using that. So far so good! This is good for a quick remedy. The smell is the only reason I say it could be better.

Did this product just get even stinkier? Oh well, i guess. If you’re willing to put up with the odor, then this is a must buy if you suffer from Dermatitis. It has completely cleared up my skin. I do believe the smell does dissipate some after an hour or so. You Gotta go through the pain (stinkyness), to get to the pleasure (flakiness and redness free skin).

This cream is great. Within the first time using it, it completely cleared my skin of scaling and redness. It's very gentle and I have been able to use it without any irritation or reaction from it. I usually use it in the shower, rubbing it in for a few minutes, then rinse it off and continue later with my night-time skin routine. I have never had anything clear my skin so quickly and so effectively. When I missed using it for a day, I did not have the rapid grow-back that often happened with previous cleanings. It works on the area of my face and a spot on my chest that gets itchy, red, dry, and then flaky. After daily application, within a few days things feel normal when the dry flaky skin falls off. If I stop using it for a few days it will start to get irritated again. Just apply and it provides that relief. Been using it for about 3 weeks now. However, there is one big issue I am having with using this product. I heard Hell is supposed to smell like sulfur. This item has sulfur in it. Whenever I have it applied on my skin, I feel like Satan ate a ton of rotten eggs and thought it would be funny if he farted on my face in the morning. And the fart is so thick that it lingers on my face the rest of the day. I'm glad no one else has to smell my face and that I have some tolerance to stinky smells or else I would be gagging all day at work. My coworkers might hear it and start gagging too. In addition to the smell, it does leave a weird dry unpleasant feeling around my nasal passage and throat. My saliva and taste in my mouth is slightly affected. I’m sure it’s from smelling the sulfur for a certain amount of time. Sitting here smelling this sulfur fart on my face as I type this makes me depressed as I willingly did this to myself. It seems like I unknowingly made a deal with Satan through Amazon to get relief on my seborrheic dermatitis. The catch was convincing me to apply his fart cream onto my face to get that relief. Don’t get me wrong. The product works. I highly encourage anyone who is suffering from the effects of seborrheic dermatitis and are looking for alternatives to try it. It does its job. However, after I am “finished” using this bottle, I am going back to just plain 1% hydrocortisone or getting a doctor prescribed one. I have determined that I don’t need the Sulfur and Salicylic Acid. Others may need it. This product is not the best for me. Long backstory on why I used this for those that care: I've had seborrheic dermatitis for over a decade now. The first doctor called it face dandruff. She prescribed Desonide for me. I used it and it worked great. I was never dedicated to daily application as instructed back then. I would apply when it starts flaring up (stress or weather). The bottle even expired, but still worked and it lasted a long time. After the second prescription I felt it was tedious to do a co-pay with a doctor for a simple skin cream. A chain store pharmacy consultant recommended that I try 1% hydrocortisone from the shelf. Viola, it worked. It did not feel as strong or lasted as long as Desonide. However, I didn't have to go through a doctor so the convenience is nice, it simply worked, and the store brand was fine. Recently, I heard that long term use of hydrocortisone was bad for the skin (unsure if this is true because it's the internet), I wanted to find out if there was an alternative. Here comes this product with extra stuff. Sulfur and Salicylic Acid in addition to the hydrocortisone. My thought process was that if this was more effective than just hydrocortisone by itself, it would last longer before I'd have to reapply. That way I wouldn't be putting so much hydrocortisone on my face in the long run. So far it seems like they are similarly effective with no indication that one does a better job than the other. So I would much rather prefer to use the plain 1% hydrocortisone. That’s from my personal experience and testing.

NEW UPDATE: I’ve used this product for about two months now and had more time to experience its outcomes. If you stop using this product (which I did for a few days on and off after my skin cleared up), the flakes and inflammation came right back in less than a week. Also if your outbreaks are triggered by stress like how mine tends to be, this cream may not help much if you don’t properly manage your stress alongside it. My scalp flakes came back during a stressful time, and daily usage of this product may have prevented it from growing severely thickly, but the flakes are still very much returning. Overall, the cream is a fair temporary solution to relieve you of inflammation and flakes, but it is not something that will permanently cure your seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. OLD REVIEW: I’ve had a small scaly patch of skin on my lower scalp for nearly 11 years. To this day, I’m not sure if it’s psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis (because I get diagnosed differently by every dermatologist I visit). The affected patch on my scalp usually remains moist even after I blow dry my hair, and it also always produces a thick crust of scales within 30mins that would itch and prompt me to constantly pick at it. Many different anti-fungal shampoos and creams that I was prescribed didn’t help me. Then, a few months ago, I recently developed a much smaller scaly patch at the lower corners of my nose that made it hard for me to wear daily makeup. I was at my wits end with my decade-old scalp issue and the newer patch beneath my nose, so I decided to try out this cream on a whim. It does smell bad, but I can overlook that. Although it stung a lot when I first applied it onto my affected skin, I remained consistent in using it every night before bed. The progress was little and slow during the first week, but after the second week, I’ve noticed that the scales have lessened a lot. With less scales, the cream began to sting less whenever I applied it. My skin also isn’t as itchy anymore, so I have nearly stopped picking at it entirely. However, these areas on my scalp and nose are still VERY visibly pink. I’m hoping it goes away eventually with continued use of this product, and that my skin only appears so pink because it still needs to heal after years and months of picking.
