Why did the formulation change from the original product?  i prefer the original.  why the reduced the tryptophan and the gaba combo?

Alteril tablets and Alteril soft gels were manufactured with the same goal in mind, to help our customers sleep better using natural ingredients.  However, these two products differ in that they contain different delivery systems; one being a soft gel and the other a tablet.  Being that the delivery systems are different, each product requires a unique formula blend. Also, having two Alteril forms allows our customers to have more options in how they chose to consume the product. ALTERIL TABLETS contain ingredients in higher amounts because the components are not protected by an outer shell. Instead, the ingredients are pressed into a tablet. Since the ingredients are compacted into a small serving, the disintegration rate is slow, and the absorption rate is extended. This means that during the travel period from the mouth to the stomach/digestive tract, several things may happen:
•	we will lose ingredients in the throat, stomach lining etc due to not being protected in a capsule. 
•	The total milligrams of each ingredient will not reach the intestinal lining, where maximum absorption occurs.
Therefore, in order to ensure that the proper dose of ingredients is being absorbed for maximum sleep benefits, the ingredient amounts are increased within safe reason. Also, having a tablet version of Alteril allows customers to break the product into smaller portions for easier swallowing.
