Best electric griddle I have ever used
I bought this electric griddle after my third one (other brands) in 5 years broke on me. I hadn't been all that happy with the past ones (as the heat distribution was awful). I was "this" close to giving up on electric griddles entirely, but really liked that this Zojirushi griddle has an element that really covers the entire cooking area. So I figured it would be worth the higher cost. Turns out I was absolutely right - the griddle does have very good heat distribution (no more "musical chairs" with pancakes to keep them cooking evenly!) The griddle also has plenty of power - I haven't had to cook at a temperature beyond the pre-heat range yet (with other griddles, I sometimes doubted that they ever got up to temperature). You're supposed to pre-heat the griddle for 8 minutes, which makes a real difference to the heat distribution, as well - that's enough time to pre-heat while you mix up pancakes. I love that the griddle plate has high sides, which makes turning food much easier, and makes it possible to use the griddle for foods beyond pancakes. While the Zodoesn't have the grease drain like other electric griddles, you can make gravy or sauces while cooking your food. I also find I use less oil in this pan because it doesn't all drain away. The pieces are so easy to clean - everything comes apart, and you don't ever have to immerse the element part in water. The lid is is very useful for evenly cooking meat or thicker foods, as it traps the heat. Probably more energy efficient that way, too. The lid is a bit light - it would be very easy to bend it if you're not careful (don't put anything heavy on top of it) - and you have to be careful when lifting it because there's no central knob on top, and you have to lift from the ends. Make sure to lift the lid open AWAY from you to avoid getting steam in your face. (If I had any suggestions on product improvement, it would be to make the lid sturdier, add a handle on top for lifting, and put in a steam vent.) All told, I'm very happy with my Zojirushi griddle and would recommend it over any other griddle I've tried (and I've had at least 7-8 over the past 15 years).

breakfast anyone?
great device, is well made, cooks very evenly everywhere. Heats up a bit slow. Lid doesn't seem to fit perfectly everytime, its kind of loose and just sits on the top of each corner a small amount. . The only other negative i have is there really isn't anywhere for the extra oil or scraps to go when cooking. For instance if you cook a pack of bacon after you have all that grease leftover and you can't just pick up the device and dump the grease into a cup cause its all plugged in. I found myself unplugging it, putting on oven mits, picking up the middle insert and then dumping it.

Cooking surface the size of a flight deck.
This thing is awesome! When I looked across the cooking surface I had flashbacks to my time in the Navy stationed aboard an aircraft carrier looking across the flight deck. In other words, it's huge! I bought this because I'm often juggling stove top real estate and while I have a double burner griddle it is about 15 years old and the non-stick isn't what it used to be. Besides that there were times it just wasn't big enough. Those days are gone. I can still use all four gas burners and now the huge cooking surface of the Zojirushi EA-DCC10. I haven't done breakfast on it yet, but you could pretty much cook everything on this one griddle all at the same time. I also own a Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5 1/2 cup rice cooker and my satisfaction with that item made purchasing this Zojirushi product that much easier. I've just received this griddle and used it twice. First was for carne asada tacos. It was a breeze cooking the meat, enough for my three person family to have three large tacos apiece. After I had cooked the meat most of the way I moved it over to one side and could fry up the tortillas, four at a time with the meat still cooking on one side (cilantro lime rice cooking away in my Zojirushi rice cooker). Could easily do six tacos sized tortillas at once if thats all you were doing. The non-stick was perfect and cleaned easily with a paper towel. Next I cooked about three pounds of chopped chicken thighs to make my lunches for the week. Once the chicken was nice and browned I again moved it to one side and cooked diced onion and jalapeno on the other side before mixing it together once the onions were soft. I normally do this in a skillet and remove the meat after it's brown and cook the onions then add the meat back. With this I was able to do it all on this one surface. I will update this review as I use the griddle more, but out of the box and after the first couple uses I'm very happy with my purchase. **UPDATE** Man, this thing continues to impress. I cook on this several days every week and have been enjoying every minute of it. I already cooked a lot from scratch, so it isn't like I'm cooking because I have the sizzler, but I have moved the majority of my cooking from the stovetop to this unit and my results have improved. I've cooked everything from NY Strip steaks, pork loin chops, flank steak, cubed chicken thighs, eggs, ham, homestyle potatoes, fish to onions and sauerkraut. The size is awesome. It's safe to say you could cook about 5lbs of chopped meat on this thing, no problem. The outer edge stays completely cool to the touch. The surface cleans very easily. After about a month the non-stick is looking rock solid. It's an attractive piece of cooking equipment. Loving it!

Love the size. Love the engineering. Love the results.
This thing is BIG. It was a Christmas present to my wife. We love it and use it at least a few times a month to make pancakes loaded with nutritional ingredients to freeze for our special needs son who is a very picky eater. My wife doesn’t spend four hours cooking them anymore thanks to its size and quick even heating. It cooks so evenly thanks to its lengthy winding heating coil. She loads them up and on the Zojirushi and is done in a fraction of the time. There are two tiny spots where the coating is flaking off despite using the special rounded edge spatula that came with the Zojirushi and what we typically use, which is ba silicon spatula. Maybe we bumped it with something. Otherwise holding up well. She had said when it wears out we’re getting another one.
